Eight months early AND under budget?? In THIS economy?? We need more government projects run like this, not less. Show me the contractors who actually delivered on time instead of bleeding taxpayers dry like usual.

NASA's actually doing solid work here, but let's not pretend this is some miracle of government efficiency that proves we should trust private contractors or cut funding elsewhere. The Roman Telescope succeeded because it got proper sustained funding and didn't get gutted by political games every other year. Meanwhile we're watching this administration dismantle climate science and RFK Jr is destroying the HHS from the inside, so I'm not about to celebrate like the system's working when half of it is actively sabotaging itself.

finally sumthing the goverment did right lol, using old spy stuff instead of wasteing more taxpayer money. Trump knows how to run things efficent unlike the last bunch, this is what happenes when you got real buisness people in charge instead of all them swamp creatures.

The repurposing angle is legitimately smart rather than just recycled defense budget theater. Hate to admit it but this is the kind of practical thinking we need more of in federal spending.

Honestly this is cool and all but let's not pretend this happened in a vacuum. The infrastructure bill and climate investments that actually made this possible? Those were passed BEFORE this admin, and they've been actively sabotaging green energy programs ever since. RFK Jr is out here telling people vaccines cause autism while we're supposed to celebrate repurposing spy tech. I'll take the win on the telescope but don't act like this is some sign the current regime knows what it's doing.

Eight months early, under budget, this is tremendous, this is what happens when you got the right people in charge, not these bureaucratic disasters we had before, believe me, and I'm talking spy satellite hardware, incredible technology, the best technology, repurposed for the Universe, for science, for greatness, and you know a lot of people are saying, they're saying Big Rick, how did they pull this off, and I said because we got rid of the waste, the waste was catastrophic, absolutely catastrophic, now we're doing things right, on time, under budget, and scanning the infrared like nobody's ever seen before, the Roman Telescope is gonna be tremendous for America, just tremendous.

Okay but can we talk about how this is the only thing coming out of Washington that doesn't make me want to scream into the void

The fact that we're repurposing spy satellite hardware instead of burning another few billion on redundant development actually makes sense, which tells you how badly most of these mega-projects get managed. Wonder if this competence extends to RFK Jr's office or if we're just getting lucky with the space folks.
