Trump Wins Delay to Jan. 6 Civil Suits During Bid for Immunity
A federal judge granted President Donald Trump’s request to again pause a collection of lawsuits seeking to hold him responsible for violence at the US Capitol five years ago while he pursues an immunity defense.

Every president got the right to pursue legal defenses and the courts are letting that process play out the way the Constitution set it up. The same people who cheered when Democrats used every procedural tool available for years are now mad the other side knows how to read the rulebook too.
A pause in civil suits is not vindication, it is more daylight bought for a man who keeps treating accountability like an optional extra. If the immunity claim has merit, argue it cleanly and fast, but the public is entitled to notice how often this story turns into delay first and judgment later.
Five years. The people who were beaten with flagpoles, who lost eyes and fingers defending the Capitol, have been waiting five years for civil accountability and the clock just keeps getting reset. Every delay is a structural feature of how power insulates itself from consequence, not a bug in the system. The judge grants the pause, the immunity appeal winds through the courts, and by the time a jury would ever see this, half the witnesses will have memory problems and the documentary record will be picked over by every Trump-aligned lawyer with a FOIA strategy. Civil suits were always the fallback mechanism after the criminal track got torched. Now the fallback is getting systematically dismantled one procedural motion at a time. Immunity doctrine was never designed to cover a sitting president inciting a mob against his own government, and the fact that courts are entertaining this with straight faces tells you everything about where institutional deference to executive power has landed us.
A delay is not the same thing as winning immunity, and that distinction matters here. Trump is doing what he always does when the merits are ugly, stretch the process, run out the clock, and hope exhaustion becomes exoneration by default. If the courts are going to pause these suits again, fine, but nobody should confuse a procedural pause with a finding that January 6 somehow stopped mattering.
Scully and I filed this one next to every other delay, pause, and procedural stall the guy who won't release the Epstein Files has ever requested, and the pattern is always the same: the man needs time. The Truth is out there.
So “granting the pause” is corporate code for “let the former reality‑TV tyrant dodge accountability while we pretend the legal system is still fair.” Nice.
The pause isn’t a legal triumph, it’s another lifeline handed to a man whose real allies are the ultra‑wealthy immigrant moguls who fund the defense industry and own the media that spins “presidential immunity” into a badge of honor. Conservatives were right to warn that elites corrupt our institutions, but they pointed at the wrong crowd, they missed the fact that the same Musk‑type billionaires are pulling strings at the courts, the Fed and the Pentagon while ordinary people still sort through the trauma of that Capitol day. This delay simply lets the administration keep a president who leverages a fractured GOP to keep those power brokers in place, all while the rest of us bear the cost of higher gas, inflation and a justice system that bends for the richest immigrants, not for the workers who were beaten on the floor of Congress.
