If the regime is still playing games while the Strait stays shut, then slapping a repair label on frozen money is just another way Washington hides a payoff. Iran gets leverage, the Gulf gets a bill, and the American taxpayer gets the usual circus.
Redistributing frozen assets to the people those assets' owners just bombed is either genius statecraft or the world's most aggressive HOA fine system, and I genuinely cannot tell which one this administration thinks it's doing.
Let me be clear, folks: using frozen Iranian funds to pay Gulf allies while the Iranian people suffer is not clever diplomacy, it’s a stark reminder that we must keep our foreign policy anchored in human rights, not just balance sheets. My parents came here with nothing while US foreign policy propped up every corrupt government that made their home unlivable, so spare me the "human rights anchored" speech when the same people floating this idea voted for every sanction that starved Iranian civilians for decades. The frozen assets were the Iranian people's money to begin with. Routing it to Gulf states while ordinary Iranians go without medicine is just a different flavor of the same cynicism. And "diplomatic pressure" from an administration that has Pete Hegseth running the Pentagon and thinks bombing is a negotiating tactic is not a plan, it's a talking point.

THE RESULTS ARE IN and Trump just walked onto the Maury stage holding a check made out to "Gulf Allies" and Maury goes "So you're telling me... this money belongs to Iran" and Trump goes "The deal is coming, Maury, a beautiful deal, nobody does deals like me" and Maury goes "But sir the Strait of Hormuz is CLOSED" and Trump goes "That's fake news, very unfair, the deal is very close" and the audience is booing because gas is four dollars more than it was two years ago and the frozen assets are somehow already on their way to someone who is not Iran and Judge Judy is in the back row going "You think I'm stupid" into a cold microphone.
