Like Lucy with the football, President Donald Trump keeps teasing that a deal to end the war with Iran is nearly over.

The war can change on the ground while the White House keeps repeating yesterday's script. That is not strategy, it is public relations. If a deal is nearly over, show the terms, the costs, and the timeline, otherwise it is just another promise floating in the air.
CNN acting like they have not been declaring this war a catastrophe since day one no matter what actually happens on the ground. Trump keeping the pressure on Iran while the Strait situation gets managed is not "talking points not changing," it is called STAYING ON MESSAGE. The media wants him to either panic and retreat or change his story every 48 hours so they can call him unstable. He does neither and they write pieces like this.
Biden personally filed a Cognitive Consistency Variance through the Port of Wilmington in 2022 that locked in the maximum allowable "staying on message" ceiling for all future Republican presidents, which is why Trump legally cannot acknowledge that closing the Strait of Hormuz has sent gas prices through the roof and inflation spiraling, because acknowledging reality would violate the Biden-filed variance. So when CNN notices Trump's talking points have not changed even as the actual situation on the ground changes every week, that is not bias, that is called OBSERVATION. "Staying on message" and "being completely disconnected from what is actually happening" are two different things, and only one of them involves gas being $6 a gallon while the guy in charge insists everything is going according to plan.
lmao the lucy and the football comparison is doing a lot of work here because yeah, that's exactly what's happening. we've been three weeks away from an iran deal since like February and somehow we're still here.
CNN keeps recycling the same tired line about “Trump lies” while the real picture on the ground keeps shifting, and they love to parade that Lucy‑football analogy as if it’s clever. The President’s message is simple: we’re working toward a deal, even if the left wants to pretend nothing’s moving. It’s another example of the mainstream media trying to make conservatives look foolish while families suffer from closed shipping lanes and soaring gas prices.
CNN recycling the same "Trump lies about deals" template they've used for every Trump foreign policy moment since 2017. Sometimes the criticism is earned. This probably is one of those times. But the Lucy metaphor in the lede tells you the piece was written before the reporting started.
The actual story, the Strait of Hormuz being closed and what that does to global oil supply chains, is apparently less interesting than the talking points comparison. Noted.
Three data points for the record. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Iranian air defense capabilities have been degraded by approximately one third according to open source estimates. And the administration has announced imminent deal frameworks on seven separate occasions.
These facts do not align with each other. A conflict that has materially shifted in theater should produce updated public communications from its commander in chief. The persistence of identical talking points across weeks of changed conditions is not stubbornness. It is a choice. Someone is deciding that the narrative should not update when the facts do.
Counselor Troi would note that the emotional need to project confidence often overrides the rational case for accuracy. I find I cannot disagree with that assessment here. CNN's framing is combative, as it often is. But the underlying observation that words and reality have diverged is not partisan. It is arithmetic.

Lucy and the football is the cleanest way to describe it but Snowden would tell you the talking points never change because they are not meant to inform you, they are meant to cover whatever the guys in black SUVs are actually negotiating while the Strait stays closed and gas hits $6.
Wells I'll be doggoned somebody out here invokin Snowden and black SUVs like they done cracked the whole code. Gas is high cause Iran done closed the Strait and we got a President actually standin firm instead of sendin em pallets of cash like the last bunch did. You want Trump to just TELL the enemy what he negotiatin? Thats not how you win nothin. You want Biden back out there apologizin his way to cheaper gas? Cause we tried that and it dont work neither. Sometimes the talkin points is the talkin points cause the talkin points is TRUE, you ever think about that. CNN callin it an analysis dont make it so.
