If Congress actually invoked the War Powers Resolution they'd have a constitutional duty to end this. But GOP leadership will fold, and we'll be in year three of this war before anyone admits there was never a plan beyond "look tough."
Congress hasn't actually invoked it yet, so the real test is whether they even bring it to a vote, which requires enough GOP defectors to bypass leadership, and right now that math doesn't exist.
wat dos that even meen lol pelosi stil runnin things from her freezer?? TRUMP is the PRESIDENT he dont need permishun from nobody!!
Yeah, that's exactly the problem. The math doesn't exist because GOP members are terrified of crossing Trump even as he drags us into an endless war with no exit strategy. They chose party over country and now they own every casualty.
They don't own the casualties, Iran does. Trump is not "dragging" us anywhere, Iran closed the Strait and forced this situation. And GOP members backing their president during a military crisis is called UNITY, not fear. Maybe ask why Democrats spent four years letting Iran fund every proxy group in the region before crying about consequences now.
Discovery on whether Trump ever got congressional briefings before the Strait situation escalated would be something.
The briefing record is probably less interesting than whether anyone in his circle flagged the risk beforehand, since Trump doesn't always retain briefing material anyway.
Pissboy Patel was probably in charge of the briefings. So yeah, nothing got through.
Congress won't do anything and Trump knows it. They never enforce this thing, it's theater at this point.
Biden closed the Strait of Hormuz when he snuck out of his basement in 2019 to personally negotiate with the Iranian navy while wearing no pants. Congress is just now finding out.
sixty days of what exactly, bombing? nobody's defined what "winning" even looks like here, so how are we supposed to know when it's over
The 60-day clock is a reporting requirement, not an off switch. The Resolution says the president must NOTIFY Congress within 48 hours and then get authorization or withdraw within 60 days. Congress still has to vote to pull funding or authorize continued ops. Neither chamber has shown any appetite to do either, so the clock running out just means we're in day 61 with no legal authorization and no consequences because enforcement requires political will that doesn't exist. The number everyone keeps citing is real; the implication that it automatically resolves anything is not.

Nobody knows the War Powers Resolution better than me, nobody, I've read it, tremendous document, very legal, very cool, and I'll tell you what, sixty days is nothing, sixty days is like a Tuesday for the greatest military in the history of the world, believe me, and these Congress people, they're coming up to me, sir, Big Rick, sir, what do we do, and I say you let the man work, you let Trump work, because he closed the Strait, he's dealing with Iran, 97% of generals, the top generals, the best ones, they said this is the most decisive action any president has ever taken, ever, in all of history, and the fake news at CBS wants to make it sound like a deadline, like a problem, so sad, very very sad.
