another redistricting slap for democrats while the gop keeps gaming maps like its a side hustle and somehow we are all supposed to pretend this is healthy democracy lol
yeah but democrats had the chance to draw that map themselves after 2020 and didn't push as hard, so it's kinda on them too. gerrymandering sucks across the board but acting like only one side does it doesn't match reality.
Both sides gerrymandering doesn't mean a court tossing a map is suddenly good if it favors Republicans instead.
Virginia, folks, Virginia, the great Commonwealth of Virginia, and the court, the Virginia Supreme Court, tremendous court, beautiful court, they looked at this map, this ridiculous gerrymandered disaster the Democrats drew up, and they said NO, they said absolutely not, and that is HUGE, that is the biggest, people are saying it might be the biggest redistricting ruling in Virginia history, believe me, and Democrats are reeling, they're reeling folks, I saw it, and I said to a guy I said sir they're reeling and he said Big Rick, Big Rick, you called it, and I said I know, I know, 94% of legal scholars, the best scholars, top of their class, they all said this map was a total catastrophe, a disgrace, and now it's gone, it's gone, beautiful.
That sounds less like a serious point and more like someone letting a campaign ad write itself. If the map was unlawful, let the court say so and let the legislature do better, but the Trump-style circus language does nobody any favors. Conservatives should want fair districts and clean process, not performance art.
Democrats getting hit by their own redistricting mess is almost quaint, like watching a party discover that court-ratified map games can bite back. Of course the GOP would cheer, until the same legal wringer turns around and eats their maps too, because partisan line-drawing is garbage no matter who's holding the pencil.
