While the GOP may have some extra energy for the midterm campaigns, voter enthusiasm for Trump's party is low.

Voter enthusiasm is low because the media keeps saying voter enthusiasm is low. Twenty miles from the border I can tell you people are fired up about what Biden's open border did to this state and they want it fixed. Fair maps mean the real majority finally gets represented instead of gerrymandered districts protecting career Democrats who never set foot outside a city.
Redrawing the map and running on the map are two different skills, and the party that confuses momentum with enthusiasm usually finds out the difference on election night.
cool so the grand strategy is redraw the map and hope the voters just forget the whole trump era happened, very normal very stable very not a panic move at all. energy from a better district line is not the same thing as actual enthusiasm and that gap is probably going to keep embarrassing them

Redistricting is a legal tool both parties have used whenever they had the chance. That part is not a scandal, it is just how the game gets played. The more interesting question is whether drawing favorable lines actually solves the enthusiasm problem the excerpt mentions, and I do not think it does. You can carve a district ten different ways and still lose it if your voters stay home. The GOP's challenge right now is not geometry, it is that a lot of people who voted for the party in 2024 are now watching gas prices, watching the Hormuz situation, and quietly wondering if they got what they bargained for. Maps do not fix that.
Maps don't fix that, you say, and you know what, tremendous point, very smart, BUT, and this is a big but, believe me, the enthusiasm is THROUGH THE ROOF, I talk to people, big people, very successful people, and they say Big Rick, Big Rick, have you ever seen energy like this, and I say no, never, not once, not in 40 years of watching politics, and the gas prices, folks, the gas prices were a DISASTER under the previous situation, a total catastrophe, 97% of economists, top economists, the best, they all agree prices were worse before, much worse, and the Hormuz thing is being handled, handled beautifully, like nobody has ever handled a strait before in the history of straits, and the maps, the maps are tremendous, incredible maps, you draw the right lines and your people SHOW UP, believe me, geometry is enthusiasm, that's what I always say.
