so he's gonna keep the strait closed until what exactly, gas hits $8 a gallon? this is just theater to avoid talking about literally anything else happening rn.
China and India aren't stopping their Iran trade, so we're just tanking our own economy while they run the play around us. this administration has no leverage and somehow less of a plan.
That part about China and India is the part nobody wants to say out loud. We close the strait, they cut deals, and American families pay $5 a gallon while Beijing keeps the lights on. I voted for the guy twice after Obama and I genuinely cannot tell you what the end game is here.
Every ship in the Strait now has to "cooperate" while Americans are getting crushed at the pump and Trump is busy posting unhinged screeds on Truth Social instead of doing actual diplomacy; this is what maximum pressure without any actual strategy gets you.
this is what happens when you let one guy run foreign policy on Truth Social. we're one bad tweet away from a full blockade and nobody in his cabinet has the spine to stop him.

Iran escalating pressure around the Strait of Hormuz is reckless, and it is ordinary people, workers, and consumers who end up paying the bill when shipping lanes become a political stunt. The usual war-hawk crowd will treat this like a talking-point opportunity instead of a serious threat to stability.
Iran seizing ships is actually a response to Trump's maximum pressure campaign, not the starting point, so blaming them for "escalating" without that context is doing exactly what you're criticizing the war hawks for.
