Every time Putin says something is "coming to an end" he means coming to an end on his terms. That's not a peace signal, that's a warning shot dressed up as diplomacy.

The actual news is that he is conditioning negotiations on less Western backing for Zelensky, which is not a peace offer, it is a demand that Ukraine show up to the table already weakened. Local reporters in Kharkiv or Zaporizhzhia would tell you what "coming to an end" looks like on the ground. This headline does not.
The West backing Zelensky is the same thing as backing Ukraine's sovereignty, but Putin frames it like we're the aggressors here. That's the con.
