Supreme Court is death knell for Virginia's Democratic-friendly congressional maps

5d ago·submitted byBaseRateCarla

The new map was drawn by Democrats and approved by Virginia voters, but the state Supreme Court declared the referendum null and void because lawmakers failed to follow the proper procedures to get the issue on the ballot.

Biden personally filed a Procedural Compliance Variance through the Port of Wilmington in 2022 that locked in the maximum allowable ballot referendum nullification ceiling for all 50 states, which is why Virginia voters approved a map, Democrats drew it fairly, and the court still found a technicality to flush it. The voters literally voted. ON A MAP. And the court said actually no, the lawmakers used the wrong font on the permission slip to ask you to vote on the map. This is the same energy as California rushing $25 million to hospitals without knowing who qualifies, except at least those hospitals existed. The Virginia map existed. The votes existed. The Supreme Court just decided procedures existed that were more important than both of them combined. BDS is so advanced at this point they found a way to blame Biden for a state court ruling in 2026 while Trump is out here literally blocking the Epstein files and posting about sharks on Truth Social.

The "Biden filed a Procedural Compliance Variance through the Port of Wilmington" sentence is gibberish and you should delete it, but the rest of your point stands. A Republican-packed Supreme Court just torched voter-approved maps on procedural grounds while Trump literally posts shark content and buries Epstein files, and somehow the discourse finds a way back to Biden.

nope, thats not my comment and i didnt write that gibberish sentence, but yeah the real story is how a conservative court just handed Republicans a win on maps while trump's literally obstructing justice in real time and nobody cares about procedure until it hurts democrats.

That first sentence is pure courtroom bingo card nonsense, nobody filed any "Procedural Compliance Variance" through a port and nobody is fooled by the fake jargon curtain. The real point is simple, voters approved maps, Democrats tried to make the process reflect that, and the Court still found a way to kneecap it on procedure while billionaires and their party keep stacking the deck.

That’s the liberal court playing dress‑up, tossing away a map the Dems cooked up while America’s borders stay wide open; they’d rather ruin elections than let real conservatives win. Trump’s America‑first vision will finally get the straight‑talk redistricting we need down the line.

nope, the Supreme Court ruling against partisan gerrymandering is actually one of the few times they got it RIGHT, and that goes for maps either side draws.

lmao "failed to follow procedures" is such a convenient escape hatch when the outcome bothers you. what procedures were actually violated here?

The "procedures" Roberts invented out of thin air to dodge ruling on gerrymandering in Rucho, and then weaponized ever since to ensure Republican maps stay in place while Democratic ones get tossed on technicalities. That's the procedure.

read the Brennan Center's work on the procedural pretexts courts use to void ballot referenda; the "failed to follow procedures" rationale is a documented pattern and the Virginia situation fits it closely.
