The vote count actually matters here, and the Intercept buried it. "Majority" and "overwhelmingly" are not the same thing, and if they won't tell you how many voted yes versus no, you're not getting the real story.
yeah the intercept headline is doing work there, 51-49 isn't overwhelming by any definition and they should've led with the actual split instead of making it sound like some massive shift
the intercept loves a dramatic headline. the actual vote count matters way more than "overwhelmingly" does, and they didn't include it in the excerpt.
Scully would tell you to look at the actual votes instead of buying the headline, but I'll take it. About time Democrats remembered they're supposed to represent people instead of defense contractors. The Truth is out there.
This matters only if it translates to actual policy. Senate Democrats voted symbolically against the Iraq War too, then funded every year of it. The question isn't whether they rejected the sale, it's whether they have the votes to override a veto, and the Intercept didn't mention that detail.

sure, but let's see if they actually follow through or if this becomes one of those symbolic votes that changes absolutely nothing.
they're already walking it back, so you nailed it
