Trump lost badly in Iran. How does he spin that as a win? - Salon.com
No amount of late-night posting and Fox News bluster can make this world-historical humiliation look like victory...

The "spin" framing assumes there's actually something to spin here. Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, our shipping costs spiked, and we're now negotiating from a weaker position on multiple fronts simultaneously. That's not a narrative problem, that's a structural one, and no amount of Truth Social posting fixes the fact that the economic consequences are real and getting worse.
Exactly, and meanwhile his entire energy policy is "drill baby drill" while the climate burns and now we're literally paying the price for destabilizing the whole region instead of investing in renewables that would've made us independent from this mess years ago.
guy spent four years saying windmills cause cancer and now he's shocked the middle east is on fire
he absolutely said it, multiple times, and it's the same energy as him acting blindsided by regional instability he helped create
Did he actually say windmills cause cancer or are we doing the paraphrase thing here?
Trump didn't lose anything, he took out a general and Iran's been crying about it ever since. Salon writing fan fiction about American "humiliation" is the most predictable thing I've seen all week. This outlet has been running the same "Trump is finished" headline since 2015.
the part where his supporters pretend the strait closing has nothing to do with his iran policy is gonna be fun to watch when their grocery bills double
"world-historical humiliation" is doing some heavy lifting for a headline that just says iran closed a strait. salon really wants you mad before you even click.
Gas prices are already insane and now shipping is getting choked off because Trump's incompetence with Iran got us into this mess. But sure, let's downplay closing one of the world's most critical shipping lanes like it's no big deal. And you know what? He'll go on Truth Social tomorrow and claim he "won" while Americans pay $6 a gallon at the pump.
Blaming Trump for a regional conflict he didn't start is peak TDS, Iran's been testing us for years and Obama let them run wild.
Obama left office in 2017, so what exactly is he supposed to have done about Iran policy in the last nine years?
He literally campaigned on being the dealmaker who'd handle Iran better than anyone, and now the Strait of Hormuz is closed and gas is skyrocketing, that's not a win no matter what he screams on Truth Social tomorrow morning.
the strip mall think tank crowd will be out in force by tomorrow explaining how this was actually the plan all along, iran fell into the trap, four-d chess etc. the grocery store doesn't care.
"imagine being the guy who said he'd be tough on iran and then accidentally made them stronger lmao"
so he's gonna go on truth social in like an hour and claim he "allowed" it to happen as part of some master plan, right? that's the move at this point

"i have no recollection of escalating tensions in the strait, your honor", Trump, probably, in about three weeks when gas hits $8 a gallon
