Voters literally just approved those maps and the court threw them out anyway. I don't care which party benefits, that's the part that should bother everyone. You can agree or disagree with how the lines were drawn but at some point a vote has to mean something.

the headline is doing work here, yeah, but that framing cuts both ways depending on which maps we're talking about, so it's worth actually reading what the court said instead of just getting mad at "activist judges" or "the will of the voters" depending on your side.

Virginia, folks, Virginia, the great Commonwealth of Virginia, and the court, the Virginia Supreme Court, tremendous court, beautiful court, they looked at this map, this ridiculous, gerrymandered, Democrat-cooked map, and they said NO, and you know what, 97% of constitutional scholars, the best scholars, tremendous people, they all said these maps were a disaster from day one, a total catastrophe, and The Guardian is crying about it, of course they are, of course, because four seats, FOUR seats, they were gonna steal four seats, like nobody's ever seen, and I said to a guy, I said sir, they approved it with voters, and he said Big Rick, Big Rick, you can't just approve fraud with a vote, and I said I know, I know, believe me, I know.

Virginia voters approved those maps and the court still threw them out? Out here we've watched Democrats redraw districts every time they lose and call it "reform." Four seats handed to them on a map is not democracy, it's math with an agenda. Biden's party spent years crying about gerrymandering and then drew the most aggressive maps the moment they had power. Good on Virginia's court for seeing through it.
