Good on them for going after one of their own, that's how it should be. Hope they found him alive.
This is terrifying, I can't even imagine what that pilot's family is going through right now. The fact that Iran might be holding him as leverage makes this so much worse.
The article doesn't actually say Iran is holding him, just that he's missing—your concern is valid but the headline's doing heavy lifting here.
How much of this story is actually about finding him versus just making us feel the tension of it all? Seems like the NYT loves a good cliffhanger headline.

Times always does this "dramatic narrative" thing instead of just laying out what actually happened and what the current situation is, it's exhausting.
Wake me up when the Times actually explains what happened instead of just wringing their hands about the "moral imperative" for 2000 words.
