These Terms of Service cover your use of refraktd (refraktd.com), operated by 7H Ventures LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. By creating an account or using the platform in any way, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use refraktd.
1. Who Can Use refraktd
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use refraktd. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for your account. Keep your password secure and do not share access with anyone else. Everything that happens under your account is your responsibility. If you think someone has gotten into your account without permission, contact us at [email protected] right away.
You may only have one account. Creating additional accounts to get around a ban, to boost your own karma, or to manipulate votes is a violation of these terms and will result in all of your accounts being terminated.
3. What You Can Do on refraktd
refraktd lets you submit links to news articles, vote on political lean and reporting quality, leave comments, and interact with other users. We retrieve basic metadata from the article URLs you submit, including the title, excerpt, and preview image, to display alongside your submission.
You do not upload the articles themselves. refraktd does not host external news content. We only display links and the publicly available metadata that comes with them.
4. Your Content
When you post a comment or submit an article link on refraktd, you keep ownership of what you wrote. By posting it, though, you give 7H Ventures LLC a license to display, store, and distribute it as part of running the platform. This license ends if you delete your content or close your account, except where your content has already been shared or cached as part of normal platform operations.
You are responsible for anything you post. Do not submit content that you do not have the right to share.
5. What You Cannot Do
The following are not allowed on refraktd:
Vote manipulation. Do not create or use multiple accounts to vote on the same article. Do not coordinate with others to push votes in a particular direction. Do not use bots, scripts, or any automated means to cast votes.
Brigading. Do not organize off-platform campaigns to flood refraktd with coordinated votes or comments on specific articles or outlets.
Spam and self-promotion. Do not submit articles solely to promote yourself, your own outlet, or your own business. Do not post repetitive or off-topic comments.
Harassment. Do not threaten, bully, or target other users. Debate the article, not the person.
Hate speech. Do not post content that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
Impersonation. Do not pretend to be another person, a public figure, a journalist, or a refraktd staff member.
Doxxing. Do not post personal information about other users or private individuals without their consent.
Ban evasion. If your account has been suspended or banned, do not create a new account to get back on the platform.
Illegal activity. Do not use refraktd to do anything that violates applicable law.
6. Intellectual Property
refraktd, including its name, logo, design, and platform code, is owned by 7H Ventures LLC. Nothing in these terms gives you a right to use our branding or intellectual property without permission.
The articles you link to belong to their respective publishers. refraktd does not claim any ownership over third-party news content.
7. No Warranties
refraktd is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times, that it will be free of errors, or that the community ratings you see are accurate reflections of any objective truth about an outlet's bias or quality. The ratings on refraktd are crowdsourced opinions, not verified journalism audits.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, 7H Ventures LLC makes no warranties, express or implied, about the platform or its content.
8. Limitation of Liability
7H Ventures LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of refraktd. This includes damages related to decisions you make based on community ratings or information you find on the platform. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $100.
9. Disputes and Arbitration
If you have a dispute with 7H Ventures LLC that cannot be resolved informally, it will be settled through binding arbitration administered by New Era ADR, under their rules in effect at the time of the dispute. Arbitration will take place in Gwinnett County, Georgia, unless both parties agree to a different location or to proceeding remotely.
By using refraktd, you waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. You may only bring individual claims.
You and 7H Ventures LLC agree that any dispute resolution will be governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
10. Termination
We can suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these terms, or for any other reason at our discretion. You can close your account at any time by visiting the Delete Account Page.. Certain provisions of these terms survive termination, including sections on intellectual property, limitation of liability, and arbitration.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the platform or by email. Continuing to use refraktd after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
