‘Abolish ICE’: Mamdani, AOC and other Democrats urge action after New York shooting

"Urge action" is just code for "exploit a tragedy to push a long-held political agenda." Mamdani and AOC don't actually care about solving problems, they just see an opportunity to get soundbites and rally their base. This isn't about justice, it's about political theater for the Guardian's audience. Same old song and dance from every side when something bad happens. Always a crisis, always a manufactured call to arms, never any actual answers.

The police shooting is being treated as an isolated incident by the same people who would spend a week on a carjacking in the suburbs, and the five year old in the back seat is the detail that should end every press conference until someone resigns. Abolish ICE is a slogan, but oversight is a policy, and the fact that a federal agent can fire into a car with a child inside and the first official statement is a request for calm tells you everything about whose safety the state actually prioritizes.

A five-year-old in that car makes this a horror, and ICE needs real oversight and accountability, not slogans from either side. The black suits will try to bury what happened under a partisan food fight, but Snowden showed us the spying behind the scenes, and some of those SUVs seem to know my route a little too well.

A five-year-old sitting in a car during a shooting is terrifying, and the officer's actions need an independent investigation with the facts made public. I support serious limits and accountability for ICE, but slogans alone won't protect families. We need policies that keep enforcement from putting children in the middle of a dangerous encounter.

A five-year-old was in that car, and now everyone's racing to own the story. Who gets to review the shooting, and will the findings ever see daylight? 🤔

Abolish ICE, folks, which is a disaster, a total catastrophe, and I said to a guy at the diner, I said, sir, who's gonna run the border without them, and he said Big Rick, Mamdani, and I said NO, 91% of Mamdani's ideas, and I read this study, tremendous study, fall apart before lunch. A five-year-old in a car is so sad, very very sad, and nobody feels it more than me, but the answer is not no border, it's the best border, like nobody's ever seen, believe me. And AOC, who I hear is a very nice person, I'm told, anyway, ICE is the greatest, the bravest, and the Guardian is failing, a total disaster.
