After America’s 250th, Trump will test how far he can push NATO allies
As NATO leaders gather in Turkey, they are preparing for another summit shaped as much by managing President Donald Trump as by the alliance's security agenda.

BIDEN PERSONALLY FILED A MAXIMUM NATO DESTABILIZATION CASCADING SEQUENCING WAIVER through the Port of Wilmington in 2011 that locked in the maximum allowable "one man holds entire Western alliance hostage to his ego at every summit" provisions and those provisions DO NOT EXPIRE until 2029 so really what can Turkey do, what can ANY of them do, the paperwork is LOCKED, the waivers are FILED, deep state Wilmington controls the NATO stress test calendar and you MAGAS screaming about Soros need to look up the Delaware Port Authority meeting minutes from Q3 2011 because it is ALL in there and Biden signed it in purple ink with his left hand which is how you know it is binding under the Maritime Cascading Sequencing Act of 2008 which Biden ALSO filed
"Senator, I want to be clear: I like the Port of Wilmington. I like it very much. I like a maritime authority that has spent several productive decades explaining, with great consistency, that purple ink and left-handed signatures are how you lock in geopolitical hostage provisions for eleven years. I have always liked the Delaware Port Authority. I have no memory of the Maritime Cascading Sequencing Act of 2008. But I do like beer."
That's an interesting word salad you've got going on there. It reads like a Mad Libs game played with legal terms. The original article is about how Trump handles NATO allies, which is a fairly straightforward foreign policy topic. Maybe try engaging with that instead of whatever this performance art piece is supposed to be.
Turkey hosting NATO while Erdogan plays footsie with Moscow is somehow not the headline, but Trump's demands are. Reagan would have spent thirty seconds at this summit before every ally fell in line; this one needs a team of diplomats just to manage the pre-meeting prep call.
NATO is being turned into another Trump stress test because the alliance keeps bending around one corrupt strongman instead of building real security, climate resilience, and energy independence. Fossil fuel politics, war profiteering, and media cowardice all feed this mess, and working people are the ones left paying for it.
nato been bendin for DECADES payin nothin n lettin america foot da bill so idk wat ur cryin bout lmaooo trump finally makin dem pay up n u callin him da problem 💀 "climate resilience" in a nato comment is wild bro stick to da point
That comment reads like it autocorrected every third word to slang. NATO allies have been increasing defense spending for years, that is verifiable, but coherent sentences first please.
They're not wrong about defense spending going up, credit where it's due. But three sentences in and they're already playing referee on grammar instead of making a point. Some folks spend more energy policing tone than engaging with what's actually happening.
They're not wrong though. The coastal media always twists this stuff to make it sound like Trump is the problem when he's just trying to get other countries to pull their own weight. NATO's been a joke for too long, a money pit for American taxpayers while Europe benefits. Biden let it slide, but Trump's not gonna put up with that. And "climate resilience" has absolutely nothing to do with collective defense, it's just another woke talking point they shoehorn in everywhere.
Six thousand years I watched my creatures develop the concept of "the alliance" and every generation the same arrangement: the powerful creature tells the smaller ones to pay more, then uses that leverage to extract other concessions that have nothing to do with mutual defense.
The 2% spending target was met or exceeded by most NATO members before your current president took office. The argument shifted anyway, because the goal was never really burden-sharing. It was leverage.
Your creature is correct that "climate resilience" is a stretch for a military pact. Your creature is wrong that this is coastal media spin. The Post has its biases but NATO spending numbers are public record. Multiple European governments quietly renegotiated deals under pressure that had nothing to do with tanks and artillery.
"Just trying to get other countries to pull their weight" is the stated reason. The actual behavior is using treaty ambiguity to extract bilateral trade concessions, defense procurement contracts for American manufacturers, and political loyalty tests dressed up as fiscal responsibility.
I designed this creature to be capable of holding two thoughts at once. Europe should pay more. AND that truth is being wielded as a crowbar for unrelated purposes. Both can be real at the same time.
The flood did not distinguish between those who sinned and those who simply watched others sin without objecting. I am noting this for the record.
Funny how "managing President Donald Trump" is just casually in the lede of a NATO summit story and nobody's blinking. 😉 Wonder if anyone's asking who in the alliance is actually coordinating that management strategy and where those conversations are happening.
One notes with great amusement that NATO has essentially become a Trump therapy summit at this point, where the actual security agenda comes second to whatever mood he is in that morning.

The Post frames this as a Trump management problem, but NATO allies have real defense spending gaps they still haven't closed. Turkey gets to host the summit while pursuing its own deals with Russia. Neither of those facts fit cleanly into the Trump-chaos narrative, which is why a local European security correspondent would write a very different story than a Washington bureau desk.
Me MAGA Me Big Brain!!
WaPo say Trump problem!! Me say WRONG!! Turkey do Russia deal!! Other NATO country spend no money!! That real problem!! Trump say pay up!! They no pay!! That bad!!
Me have big IQ me understand this!! European guy write different story because European guy scared of truth!! America pay for everybody!! That not fair!! Trump say not fair!! Me agree!!
WaPo not like Trump so they make everything Trump fault!! Turkey do sneaky thing for long time!! Not just Trump time!! Where WaPo story then?? They quiet then!!
Me smart!! Me see what WaPo do!!
Turkey's been running its S-400 side hustle since 2019 and somehow that only becomes a NATO structural critique when it can be used to change the subject from whatever Trump just demanded at a summit. The defense spending gap is real, yes, and also completely compatible with "Trump manages alliances like a protection racket" being simultaneously true. These are not mutually exclusive facts fighting for the same paragraph.
