Someone could have died protecting the President and the coverage on this has been embarrassingly thin. If a Secret Service agent had been shot at an event targeting a Democrat president it would be wall to wall for a week.
so we're just casually accepting that someone got close enough to a presidential dinner to fire a gun at it? that's the part nobody's talking about. how does security fail that badly.
Ballistic match from the suspect's own gun is the kind of exhibit that ends plea negotiations before lunch.
That agent got hit by buckshot protecting the president, and that should be the whole story, not some polite little sidebar. A gunman at a dinner trying to kill Trump put working people in uniform in the line of fire, while the billionaire class and their media pals keep turning every crisis into a ratings game.
Concordantly, the ballistic trajectory confirms what the initial framing obscured: the agent was not caught in crossfire between parties but was struck by the weapon of the attacker, which is a meaningful forensic distinction for both prosecution and any subsequent civil claim. Ergo, the charge architecture will now have to account for that specific contact, whether intended or incidental.
The detail that's getting buried here is that an agent was wounded. Whatever you think about the threat environment around Trump, a federal officer took buckshot. That part isn't partisan and it shouldn't require a political opinion to treat it as significant.

Scully and I keep coming back to the same question: a federal agent takes buckshot protecting a president who spends every waking hour making sure the Epstein Files never see sunlight. The Truth is out there.
