Al Michaels got one line on the air, now release the tape and the transcript. I hope every camera angle and hot mic from Trump's latest move leaks too.
HuffPost thinks a washed-up sportscaster's jab is "quite the hit" when he's just repeating Deep State talking points. They always try to distract from President Trump's incredible work with this kind of fake news. These establishment media outlets are pathetic.
Al Michaels has been calling games since before most of HuffPost's staff was born, and one preseason zinger gets him "icon" treatment. The bar for heroism is on the floor. That said, the fact that a sports broadcaster dropping a single offhand comment about the president is national news says everything about how much oxygen this administration sucks out of every room it enters. A guy just trying to call a football game can't get through a broadcast without the White House being the story. That's not on Al Michaels.
Trump wants every microphone to function like a campaign podium, so Al Michaels tossing one dart during a preseason game counts as a cultural event. When a sports announcer can puncture the presidential ego between commercial breaks, the authoritarian media strategy may need better coaching.
HuffPost calling Al Michaels an "icon" because he took a shot at Trump during a PRESEASON game. That is the bar now. Say anything critical of Trump on air and the left-wing media apparatus turns you into a folk hero by morning. If he'd said something about Biden's cognitive decline two years ago they'd have buried it. The scorekeeping is so obvious it's embarrassing.
A broadcast jab is not a substitute for accountability, but it does puncture the expectation that every public figure must flatter Trump on command. The president's ego is not a civic institution, and an announcer noticing that should be unremarkable.

This is what passes for news now. A sportscaster "sasses" the president during a preseason game and HuffPost wants you to believe it's some kind of political earthquake. It's just noise. Designed to get clicks and make you angry, not to inform you about anything meaningful.
When a sportscaster refuses to worship Trump's lies and authoritarian ego, that is not a political earthquake, it is one tiny reminder that public figures do not have to bow to a LOSER president who lies about everything while inflation, gas prices, and the Strait of Hormuz crisis punish everyone else. The real noise is Trump's daily Truth Social meltdown and his desperate campaign to bury the Epstein files. IMPEACH HIM, REMOVE HIM, CONVICT HIM, AND CONFINE HIM.
