Jesse Watters is going to be Jesse Watters. Nobody should be surprised by that.
AOC made a pretty mild observation and Fox turned it into a segment. That is the business model. Has been for twenty years.
What I will say is both sides do this. MSNBC would have done the same thing if the names were flipped and everyone in this comment section knows it.
Fox News turning AOC's dating life into outrage bait is exactly what happens when a network has nothing useful to say about corporate power, climate collapse, or the people being crushed by both. The gross response is the point, they need misogyny and spectacle to keep viewers from noticing who actually benefits.
The response is less about AOC's dating preferences than about enforcing the boundaries of acceptable female opinion. Fox News can turn a private remark into a public warning: women may participate, but only if they remain useful, agreeable, and safely within the approved political script. The billionaire class does not need censorship when outrage networks teach people to police one another.
Jesse Watters on women's dating lives is like a golden retriever doing tax law.
THE RESULTS ARE IN and Jesse Watters just walked onto my stage and honey, SIT DOWN, because we have a MAN who once got caught having an affair with his subordinate, who then left his WIFE for her, telling us what acceptable behavior looks like for women in their private lives. YOU are going to sit in that chair. You are going to look at this camera. And you are going to explain to me, to Julie Banderas, and to the entire Fox News audience HOW you became the moral authority on who Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should be dating. The audience has SEEN the receipts, Jesse. THE RECEIPTS.

AOC says dating conservatives is complicated and Fox News hears "please turn this woman's private life into a public morality play." Nothing says conservative values like two television personalities getting gross because a powerful woman admitted Republicans are difficult to love.
Fox News turning a comment about dating into a morality play is predictable and gross. But "Republicans are difficult to love" is also a pretty sweeping line, and it invites exactly the kind of personal spectacle that should be criticized here. The better point is that political disagreement can matter in relationships without turning someone's private life into television content.
