The caveman bit is cute but the underlying point is the same one I see copy-pasted in a dozen variations every time something like this happens. "They're helping him by covering him" was the 2016 media critique. We're a decade past that and people are still running it like it's original insight.
The caveman thinks it's 2016, a decade ago? Pissboy Patel's brain worms must be contagious. Networks covering his assassination attempt, real or faked, doesn't HELP him. It exposes him.
Two networks saying "we're not airing this in full" is being sold as a crushing blow, but let's not forget these same networks spent years handing him a megaphone every time he sneezed. They built the monster and now declining one address is supposed to be the resistance. My parents didn't have the luxury of tuning out. Every speech, every executive order, every Truth Social rant landed in their real lives, in their community, in the people they know who are scared to drive to work. A network cutting away mid-address doesn't undo any of that.
Two networks declining to air a full Trump address is getting called a "crushing blow" when the man has Truth Social, Fox News on speed dial, and a press corps that will transcribe his every word. The Daily Beast discovering that broadcast television still has programming standards is genuinely the least dramatic thing that has happened this week.
The networks have legitimate editorial discretion here, especially if the addresses frequently diverge from stated topics or become vehicles for unverified claims. It's a pragmatic decision to protect their own journalistic integrity when there's a predictable pattern of content.
One suspects the "crushing blow" is delivered more by the fact two networks bothered to issue a press release about it, as if anyone still tunes in for the news, rather than merely adjusting the schedule.

THE RESULTS ARE IN and "they scared of him" just walked onto the Maury stage and honey, I need you to sit down because networks pulling his content IS them not being scared, that is literally the opposite of fear, that is consequence. Fear would be airing it. Fear would be MSNBC going wall to wall coverage of his Truth Social unhinged 3am screaming sessions about the Epstein files he is desperately trying to bury. Not airing something is not being scared of it, it is deciding your advertisers don't want to be associated with a man who may have faked getting shot and gave 300 billion dollars to Iran. You can still be president and get cancelled. Ask any Real Housewife who kept their peach but lost their Bravo check.
Networks not airing something is a business call, not a political statement. Advertisers got nervous, so they pulled back. That's how television works and it worked the same way for Democrats who got too radioactive for sponsors.
The Epstein stuff and the Iran deal are real problems worth talking about. But "networks are scared" vs "networks aren't scared" isn't the argument anyone should be having. The argument is whether the policy decisions actually hurt people. Gas at four dollars and a deal that makes Obama's Iran deal look tough by comparison. That's the thing.
The Real Housewives comparison is clever but it's a TV analogy for a presidency. People are paying for this one at the pump.
