Canada wants to lock in 16 more years while Trump is sitting at the table trying to renegotiate the whole thing from scratch. That is not how leverage works. You do not ask for a 16-year extension when the other side has tariffs on the table and a president who ran on America First trade policy. Canada has been protecting their dairy market for decades and now they want a long-term guarantee before anything gets fixed. Pass.
