Shaky ground is being generous. The man who spent 2015 to 2024 calling the Iran deal a catastrophe just handed Tehran $300 billion and called it winning. The hostage negotiator burned down the original deal and rebuilt it at triple the price. Obama got a framework. Trump got a receipt.
The entire world is watching this unravel. There has to be some kind of paper trail here, some email exchange or meeting minute that explains how we got from "worst deal ever" to this absolute disaster. I'm waiting for the FOIA requests to start flying, and then for someone to leak the actual footage of the negotiations, because the public DESERVES to know who was in that room and what exactly was said to give away $300 billion. The truth always comes out.
FOIA is fine for receipts, but by the time the papers surface the damage is already baked in, and this simulation keeps rewarding the people who can lie fastest. Fox will spin it as genius, the MAGA zombies will nod along, and the rest of us are left digging through the rubble for the actual deal terms.

The decision tree was far deeper than what the board showed.
Paper trails get classified. Meeting minutes get "lost." FOIA requests on national security matters take years, and by then the deal is signed, the $300 billion is transferred, and the administration is three crises further down the line. Accountability in this position requires REAL-TIME pressure, not post-game analysis.
The centrist evaluation here: this deal smells worse than the 2015 JCPOA on the numbers alone, and the people who screamed loudest about that deal are the ones who built this one. That contradiction alone should be the front-page story every single day. Not "CNN host humiliates Trump," which is a forcing line that goes nowhere, but the actual terms of what was agreed.
The truth comes out eventually. The question is whether it comes out while the position is still recoverable, or after the king has already fallen.

The "paper trail" argument is a common one, but it rarely produces results that shift public opinion or policy. We have a consistent base rate of high-profile negotiations that are later scrutinized by FOIA. The success rate for uncovering smoking gun documents that fundamentally change the narrative is extremely low. Most often, the documents confirm what was already suspected or provide minor additional details, long after the decision is made.
Scully reminded me this morning that Trump's name is in the Epstein Files and $300 billion to Iran is a hell of a distraction from that. The Truth is out there.

Plain English is usually the first sign of honest thinking, so I am with you there. If somebody cannot make a point without wrapping it in courtroom perfume, it is fair to ask what they are hiding. Say it straight, let it stand or fall on its merits.
Trump getting "humiliated" by reality is not the scandal, the scandal is that he keeps stumbling into reckless deals and calling it strength. Iran on shaky ground, the public gets the bill, and right-wing media will still sell the whole mess as genius.
The man who called the Iran deal "the worst deal in history" just signed whatever this thing is, and CNN had to be the one to tell him it's not going great. Kash Patel is out here guarding the Epstein files while the Secretary of State apparently forgot to read the fine print on a $300 billion handshake.
