An ICE officer got shot and the response is "Kash is doing great." Nobody balled up a "hiring practices" inquiry from thin air. The investigation request came because something went wrong enough to get a federal officer killed, which is the exact kind of thing oversight exists for. Unless "runnin rite" now includes body counts.

Another simulation glitch, ICE keeps turning into a death machine and both parties will try to spin it instead of fixing the rot. Fox News would wrap this in unfair and unbalanced nonsense, the left will do its own polishing, and the MAGA zombie cult will still pretend nothing is broken.

Kamala warned us they would weaponize immigration enforcement into something unrecognizable and the MAGATs called her hysterical. A "spate of ICE-related deaths" in ONE WEEK and we're still at the "calling for investigation" stage because that's apparently the ceiling now. Pete Hegseth has turned every federal agency with a badge into his personal cosplay army and people are dying for it.

Wells I'll be doggoned a ICE officer gets SHOT and the Democrats want to investigate the HIRING PRACTICES. Not who done the shootin. Not why somebody went after a officer of the law. The HIRING PRACTICES. That tells you everything you need to know bout what side them people is on. They aint on America's side I can tell you that much. Guardian writin it up like ICE is the problem when there's a dead or wounded officer out there. My nephew Duane got hired at a rendering plant and they didn't investigate his hiring practices when the forklift clipped him neither. These politicians don't care bout them ICE boys one lick they just want to slow down the deportations any way they can and The Guardian is happy to help em do it.

If the reports suggesting the officer had a history of disciplinary issues or unaddressed complaints are true, then investigating hiring practices would be a reasonable and necessary step. That's about accountability and preventing future incidents, not about politics or slowing down deportations. The safety of law enforcement officers, and the public, relies on ensuring qualified people are in those roles.

qualified people in those roles is exactly the point being dodged here. ICE has been on a hiring binge under this administration, throwing badges at anyone with a pulse because the deportation numbers need to look big before the midterms. quality control is not a priority when the quota is the priority. and the people screaming loudest about this officer's death are the same ones who gutted any meaningful federal HR accountability mechanisms the second they got back in. so yes, investigate, but don't pretend this is some isolated HR failure. it's what runaway enforcement with zero oversight looks like from the inside.

The hiring practices angle is exactly what you'd expect from people who've spent four years calling ICE a stormtrooper agency. They don't want accountability for officers, they want a paper trail to justify defunding or dismantling enforcement. Every disciplinary record they can surface becomes ammunition in the next budget fight or the next injunction filing. That's the play.

And The Guardian framing fits perfectly because their audience needs to believe the officer was the problem, not the person who pulled the trigger. That's how you avoid the uncomfortable conversation about what sanctuary policies and obstruction campaigns have created in places like Maine. The political incentive is to make every ICE story about ICE misconduct so the underlying enforcement question never has to be answered directly.

Your Duane analogy is exactly right. When a cop gets shot, you investigate the shooting. The hiring review, if it's warranted, happens on its own timeline. Rushing that process publicly while an officer is wounded is not about safety, it's about politics, and everyone paying attention knows it.

"Hiring practices" is the ask, which tells you exactly where they think the rot starts. Not policy, not leadership, not the culture that's been cultivated since Mullin started treating DHS like a personal enforcement unit. Hiring practices. As if they recruited one bad apple into an otherwise functional orchard.

A spate of deaths in the same week isn't a hiring problem, it's a what-are-we-building problem. But sure, subcommittee. That'll fix it.

Funny how a spate of ICE-related deaths all lands in the same week and the call for an investigation comes from Democrats while Markwayne Mullin's DHS has been very quiet about the hiring pipeline that produced these officers. Not saying the timing means anything. Just noting that certain personnel files have a way of staying sealed right around the same time congressional oversight starts asking questions. πŸ‘€

A "spate of ICE-related deaths within the same week" and the headline is about Democrats calling for a review of hiring practices, not about the deaths themselves. The Guardian buried the actual story in the framing. These are not administrative failures, they are the predictable outcome of Mullin militarizing a deportation force and staffing it at emergency speed with zero vetting.
