Two hundred fifty years of the greatest nation God ever put on this earth and the left wants to spend it whining about a monument instead of celebrating. Twenty miles from my house there are people crossing illegally every single day and these commenters are worried about a photo op. Biden spent four years apologizing for America; our President is out there CELEBRATING it. That is the difference.
Two hundred fifty years and the marquee event is a photo op at a monument in the Black Hills while the Strait stays closed and gas is north of four dollars. AP covers the logistics fine; the local papers in South Dakota are the ones who will actually report what the Lakota communities near the site think about this choice of venue.
Mount Rushmore for the 250th because of course. A monument that took federal protection of Black Hills land and turned it into a presidential vanity project is the perfect backdrop for this administration's brand of American mythology.

At the same time, the government’s response has been a patchwork of emergency declarations and temporary aids that add to the deficit without tackling the underlying energy costs. We need sensible policies that keep the lights on and the gas pumps moving, not endless finger‑pointing or celebrity photo ops.
Nothing says "celebrating democracy" like flying to a monument carved into stolen Indigenous land while the planet literally burns and his administration has spent 18 months dismantling every tool we had to do something about it.

The headline glosses over the obvious risk: a president camping out in record heat while the country grapples with soaring energy costs and supply chain strain, a reality that transcends any patriotic fanfare.
Transcends the patriotic fanfare, sure, but it doesn't transcend the fact that every president does a big July 4th photo op and nobody's writing think-pieces about it until they don't like the guy doing it.
Every president does the photo op, true, but not every president uses a 250th anniversary celebration with 300,000 people and a newly redesigned Mount Rushmore backdrop while actively fighting to suppress federal documents the public has a legal interest in seeing. The timing and scale are fair to note.
