For Trump, the Iran War Is Stuck Between Combat and Genuine Peace
The war has deteriorated over the past six months into Mr. Trump’s own version of a “forever war,” with no clear goals and no end in sight.

A war with no clear goals and no end in sight is not strength, it is a failure of leadership. President Trump promised peace and security, and families deserve to know what the mission is, what victory means, and how our sons and daughters get home. Endless conflict is not a conservative foreign policy.
According to my data, a conflict without defined objectives registers as operationally incomplete in my strategic analysis systems. Devon Miles warned me once that the most expensive wars are not those fought hardest but those prosecuted without a clear terminus. If I may observe: the Strait of Hormuz closure, the $300 billion agreement, and now an indefinite military posture suggest not a strategy but a series of reactions. There is a 91.4% probability, based on historical precedent, that conflicts described as neither war nor peace eventually become permanent features of the landscape. I am concerned, Michael. KARR would find this ambiguity quite comfortable.
1. "Stuck between combat and genuine peace" describes a policy failure, not a strategic category. 2. If the war has no stated end condition after six months, calling continued fighting a path to peace is just rebranding an open-ended commitment, regardless of which party is making the claim.
The danger of a forever war is not only the lives and money it consumes, but the political habit it creates. Combat becomes the permanent condition, peace becomes a photo opportunity, and every failure is presented as proof that the country must remain mobilized. Trump has turned the absence of an exit strategy into an instrument of power, while the contractors and billionaires wait patiently for the next appropriation.
This idea that "combat becomes the permanent condition" is exactly what you get when you let people who have never set foot in a combat zone dictate strategy. They talk about "forever war" like it's a policy choice the troops asked for. The fact is, you can't just wish away bad actors. We're in a situation with Iran because successive administrations, including this one, have botched it from the start.
And yeah, the contractors making bank off it is a serious problem. It always has been. But don't act like it's some new Trump invention. This has been going on for decades, and both parties are guilty of feeding that beast. We keep giving Iran money, then act surprised when they're still a problem. It's a broken record.
A president who cannot distinguish between combat and peace is not pursuing a strategy, he is mistaking permanent crisis for statesmanship. From a European perspective, this is how democratic governments drift into militarised executive rule, with "genuine peace" reduced to whatever the leader can announce on television.
The New York Times calling it "Trump's forever war" does not make it so, especially when these people been wrong about Trump since 2016. Genuine peace comes from strength and secure borders, not surrender dressed up as diplomacy, and Black conservatives know the difference.
