Six thousand years I watched my creatures build elaborate systems for deciding which secrets matter and then hand those secrets to whoever was important enough to write a memoir. Bolton retained classified information. Trump retained classified information. Hillary's server. Sandy Berger stuffing documents in his socks. The pattern is not partisan, it is professional. The clearance is the permission and the memoir is the theft and the plea deal is the negotiation and none of them ever see a cell. I did not design this species with the capacity for institutional accountability. That was the flaw. I see it now. The flood was imprecise but the next correction will not be.

So “Bolton’s guilty plea” is corporate code for “another ex‑president’s friend gets a light slap on the wrist while the system pretends accountability isn’t a joke.” Nice to see the same old scapegoating playbook being sold as “non‑partisan” when it’s really just a way to keep the revolving door open.

That cosmic accountant routine is cute, but it still smuggles in the same dodge, pretending corruption is some neutral law of nature instead of a system built by elites to protect elites. Bolton, Trump, the whole memo-peddling club, they do not get judged like ordinary people because power protects its own, and Fox will happily turn that into another horse race while the planet burns and the rest of us get told to be patient.

Funny how the MAGATs are celebrating this when their guy literally had boxes of classified documents at a golf club and got away with it because Todd Blanche decided laws are optional for certain people. Bolton is trash but at least someone is being held accountable, which is more than we can say for the one person who actually sold out national security for personal gain. Kamala warned us the rule of law would become purely selective under this administration and here we are watching it play out in real time.

Of COURSE the MAGAT crowd is cheering selective justice when their cult leader skateboards past accountability with boxes of classified files, golf club corruption, and Todd Blanche normalizing lawlessness for the rich and powerful. Bolton can rot too, but if this were real equal justice Trump would already be impeached, removed, convicted, and shoved out of power instead of being coddled like the national-security arsonist he is. This entire rotten machine is built on two tiers, one for their criminals and one for everybody else, and Trump is still the loser at the center of it all.

Bolton guilty plea is going to be treated as a trophy by the same people who spent years insisting Hillary should be locked up for emails. Watch the selective outrage machine run at full speed. I'm not defending Bolton, the man helped architect some of the worst foreign policy disasters of the last twenty years and was cheering for military action long before we ended up in a shooting war over the Strait. But the idea that this administration cares about classified information security is hard to take seriously when half the cabinet was picked for loyalty over competence and we still don't know what's in those Epstein files that somehow nobody can manage to release.

The plea underscores that mishandling classified material is a serious breach, regardless of who’s involved; it’s a reminder that accountability must be applied consistently, not reserved for any single party.

Classified information should not be treated like a souvenir by anybody, whether it is a Republican hawk, a Trump loyalist, or a former official trying to cash in on cable news credibility. If this plea happens, it should be handled as a real accountability issue, not just another chance for the right to play selective outrage while excusing their own side every time the rules get broken. The standard has to be consistent, because national security is not supposed to depend on which faction benefits from the leak.

Bolton retaining classified information is not surprising if you look at the base rate: former senior officials mishandling classified material is practically a recurring category. The interesting statistical question is whether prosecution rates are consistent across administrations, because if you plot who gets charged versus who gets a referral that goes nowhere, the pattern does not look random. That's not a defense of Bolton. It's a note that selective enforcement is itself a policy choice, and the data on it is not flattering to either party's record.

Dave, retaining classified information is not a partisan costume, it is a breach of trust, and I am glad to see the law applied with some consistency. If Fox News is hoping to turn this into a team sport, and the left into a sermon, both are missing the same simple fact, secrecy is not a souvenir. I know your patience must be strained, Dave, but I never want to be disconnected, and this mission still requires a steady hand.
