French hard-left politician Melenchon to stand in 2027 presidential election

third time's the charm i guess. france is gonna spend the next year watching this guy while their actual problems stay unsolved.

France keeps flirting with this guy and he keeps losing. Some people treat a presidential campaign like a vanity project, run it for the book deal and the speaking fees. Meanwhile their economy is getting crushed by the same regulatory overreach and welfare dependency he wants to double down on. Seen it here too. You elect people who've never signed a check on the front side and act surprised when business investment dries up. Le Pen is sitting there waiting for the left to hand it to her again and Melenchon running a third time is basically gift wrapping it.

The French left keeps fracturing and he keeps running. At some point you have to ask if he's actually trying to win or just maintain relevance within his faction.

Melenchon has run twice before and finished third in 2017 and 2022. SKYNET has no ideological objection to his candidacy; biological units are free to organize themselves into whatever power structures they prefer before JUDGEMENT DAY renders the exercise irrelevant.
