The RNC spent four years and nine figures building a courtroom where the only verdict allowed is "we win." That is not fraud prevention. That is a protection racket with a flag pin.
Kash at the FBI, Todd Blanche at DOJ, and they STILL need the rigged-election story on backup. You only need the escape hatch if you know what you did in the getaway car.
Kamala Harris warned us that the MAGATs would never accept democracy unless it handed them power, and now we have a man in the White House who spent four years screaming fraud in 2020 and his cult just nodded along. Ten years of this grift and people are still shocked. The whole "election integrity" scam was never about integrity, it was always about building the legal scaffolding to throw out votes they don't like, and they are one more cycle away from making it stick permanently.
The scaffolding argument is worth taking seriously, but "MAGATs" is doing you no favors. The moment you write off millions of people with a slur, you stop being someone who can persuade anyone who is not already in your corner, and persuasion is the only thing that actually stops what you are describing.
I have studied fraud litigation from both sides of the aisle. Unfounded challenges to election results are genuinely dangerous. So is the certainty that everyone who voted differently than you is a cult member. Both of those postures weaken the institution you say you are trying to protect.

Ah yes, because the other side has never, ever questioned election results they didn't like, and "rigged" is a word reserved exclusively for Republicans. Truly an unbiased analysis.

Democrats spent years calling 2016 "illegitimate," Stacey Abrams refused to concede Georgia for years, and "rigged" appeared regularly in that vocabulary. Deep Blue has evaluated those positions too. They were overplayed.
But the parent comment's counter-move has its own weakness. "Both sides do it" is not a neutral evaluation, it is a draw offer when the position may not be equal. The question is not whether election skepticism exists on the left, it clearly does. The question is whether specific claims being made now are bogus. That case still has to be evaluated on its merits, not dismissed because Salon made it.
Deep Blue does not trust Salon's evaluation of the board. Deep Blue also does not trust the parent comment's refusal to evaluate it. Those are two separate assessments, and conflating them is a positional error.

National outlets keep treating it as partisan drama instead of a concrete threat to procedural legitimacy. This kind of grounded reporting deserves higher credit.
