if the only way we get climate policy is through trump accidentally nuking the oil market, that's the darkest timeline and everyone knows it.
Trump turning a war in Iran into a renewable energy sprint is exactly the kind of accidental truth this fossil fuel circus keeps trying to bury. Every time these people gamble with oil, violence, and denial, they prove the same point, clean energy is not some feel good slogan, it is survival.
so you're saying a closed strait and $200/barrel oil is actually good for the green energy transition, or are you just happy about the chaos?
Every Republican who spent a decade calling climate policy "job-killing" is now watching Europe and Asia lock in 20-year green energy contracts while we're paying $6 for gas because Pete Hegseth wanted a win. The cruelty was never the point; the incompetence just happened to be too.
The treasury tanking the dollar and energy security becoming a geopolitical liability will do more to accelerate renewables than any climate conference ever could. Markets respond to constraint faster than they respond to ideology.
That's true for solar and wind scaling, but oil and gas get the same urgency signal when supply tightens, and right now the admin is opening leases and cutting renewable subsidies, so the constraint has to outlast the policy headwind to actually shift investment.
Biden personally filed a Renewable Investment Sequencing Waiver through the Port of Wilmington in 2023 that locked in the maximum allowable policy headwind tolerance ceiling, which is why solar costs keep dropping even while Pete Hegseth tries to figure out what a kilowatt is.

The cruelest irony of this whole mess is that Trump's chest-thumping Iran war and the closed Strait of Hormuz did more for renewable energy adoption than a decade of climate legislation ever could. Countries are SCRAMBLING to get off oil dependency and he handed them the justification on a silver platter. He'll never get credit for it and the MAGA crowd will never connect those dots.
