Academic collaboration with Chinese military universities is a legitimate concern and I will not pretend otherwise. But this is Fox News and the House China Committee, which means I need to know how many of those 140 papers are "we studied climate patterns together" versus "here is our joint hypersonic missile research." That number matters enormously and it is not in this headline for a reason.
Universities have been doing international research partnerships for decades and most of it is genuinely mundane science. That does not mean there is zero problem here. It means the answer is probably "some of this is fine and some of this is a real issue" which does not fit into either the Fox panic frame OR the "this is just xenophobia" dismissal. Both sides of this one are going to be annoying about it.
