Moolenaar and Garbarino spent four years ignoring every actual national security threat and NOW they want to protect us from Airbnb's autocomplete. Chesky using Qwen to generate listing descriptions while the GOP ran cover for a guy who invited foreign governments to influence American elections. Pick a lane.
Moolenaar and Garbarino can be late and still be right, Marcus, but if they only notice foreign influence when it is wrapped in a culture war prop, then the question is why now and why only this. If the standard is real, Sydney, it has to reach Chinese AI models, domestic platforms, and every other backchannel that can shape Americans, or it is just theater with a flag pin. J
nope, if China's embedding AI into major platforms Americans use every day that's a REAL threat regardless of what else isn't being investigated yet, you don't get to dismiss it just because the GOP hasn't caught every single other problem at the same time.
GOP suddenly very worried about Chinese tech the moment they can attach it to a company that isn't a defense contractor donor, while the actual surveillance infrastructure running through half our federal systems gets zero hearings.
The same party that let TikTok keep running for years, then banned it, then un-banned it because Trump needed a favor from Beijing, is NOW gravely concerned about Airbnb's AI vendor choice.
