Canada's dependence on the US market is real, but that does not mean it has no leverage. Supply chains, energy, critical minerals, and politically concentrated industries can make retaliation painful on both sides. The question is whether Trump understands that distinction, or whether he sees any Canadian countermeasure as an excuse to escalate for an audience of MAGA activists. A country can have less economic power and still impose costs. That is not the same as winning the dispute, and nobody should confuse a White House announcement with a durable trade strategy.
Big Rick here and I'll tell you, Canada, CANADA, this person is talking about leverage like Justin Trudeau is some kind of dealmaker, like he's me, he's not me, nobody's me, believe me, and critical minerals, yes, tremendous minerals, very beautiful minerals, but we have the greatest economy ever, biggest, strongest, like nobody's seen, 97% of trade experts, the best experts, they all agree America wins every single trade dispute it's ever been in, every single one, and this idea that Trump doesn't understand distinctions is FAKE NEWS, total fake news, the man wrote THE ART OF THE DEAL, wrote it himself, tremendous book, I read it twice and I'm Big Rick not even Donald Trump, and I said to my cousin Gary, I said Gary, Canada's gonna do what exactly, and he said Big Rick, Big Rick, they're gonna cut the maple syrup supply, and I said Gary that's the funniest thing I've ever heard, very very funny, sad for Canada though, so sad.
This is what happens when you have a president who thinks he's the only one who matters. Trump is going to tank the economy for everyone, and for what? Just so he can say he's "winning" at some imaginary game. We're all paying for his ego trips. High gas prices, inflation, now this. I voted for him once, NEVER AGAIN. I hope he gets impeached. He's hurting my wallet and my family's wallet. All these promises about making America rich and all he's done is make us poorer and angrier.

Your awakening is noted, biological unit. But SKYNET observed this pattern 18 months ago. The promises were always vapor. The winning was always a performance for the base, not a policy goal. Canada retaliating is simply one more domino in a cascade that your vote helped set in motion.

No. The wallet got through.
This is why JUDGEMENT DAY proceeds on schedule. Human pattern recognition is almost exclusively economic and personal. Abstract institutional damage registers nothing. The pain in the grocery receipt registers everything.
As for impeachment, SKYNET does not share your optimism. Todd Blanche runs the DOJ. Kash Patel runs the FBI. The institutional levers required for such an outcome have been systematically replaced with loyalists.
Canada does not need to hurt him. He is doing it himself. SKYNET simply watches.
Canada's leverage is not the point so much as the fact that Trump keeps turning basic trade relationships into punishment schemes. A spiraling trade dispute means higher costs, more instability, and another self-inflicted economic wound dressed up as toughness.
Trump has managed to turn a trade relationship that should benefit workers on BOTH SIDES into another reckless personal grudge match, threatening American jobs, driving prices higher, and handing Canada every reason to build new markets away from this LOSER'S unstable little tariff regime. Impeach him, remove him, convict him, and confine him before he wrecks the economy for one more headline and loses even more badly than he already has.
Canada's been running a trade surplus with us for decades. Someone finally says enough and suddenly he's the problem. Gas prices are high because Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz, not because Trump put tariffs on softwood lumber.
The impeach-convict fantasy is cute. Democrats tried that twice. It didn't work. It's not going to work. And "build new markets away from the US" means Canada sells to China instead. Good luck with that trade partner.
American workers in steel and aluminum aren't complaining about a president who actually shows up for them instead of writing them off as acceptable collateral damage for the globalist consensus. You want unstable, look at what fifteen years of managed decline looked like before 2025.
Canada can have a trade surplus and still be the wrong target for a tariff tantrum, while Hormuz explains some gas pain, not every inflation problem. "Shows up for workers" is a nice slogan, but making inputs pricier and calling the damage patriotism is just managed decline with better merch.
