The Strait of Hormuz situation is real, but calling it the worst ever seems like hyperbole when we've had actual embargoes and full supply cutoffs in the past. Would want to see what specific scenario the IEA is modeling here before taking that claim at face value.

This is exactly what happens when you abandon drilling permits and go full green agenda for four years. We HAD energy independence under Trump and now look at us, begging OPEC while Iran blocks the strait. Wake up people!

Trump literally handed Biden a pandemic economy in free fall and then started a war with Iran that closed the Strait of Hormuz, but sure blame "the green agenda" for the energy crisis we're in now.

trump was literally pushing for more drilling and the strait got blocked because of iran escalation, not energy policy lol

yeah and Trump's response will probably be a rambling Truth Social post about how it's actually fine and the IEA is fake news

If the Strait of Hormuz actually closes we're looking at a genuine crisis, not just rhetoric. That's a chokepoint for a third of the world's seaborne oil. The admin needs to have a coherent response ready instead of just tweeting about it.

The requisite machinery for energy security either exists or it does not, vis-a-vis your observation contains the precise contradiction that renders it meaningless: you simultaneously acknowledge the threat's materiality while implying the current administration possesses the capacity for coherence it has demonstrably lacked. A closure of Hormuz produces objective consequences regardless of presidential competence or Twitter output. The pertinent question is not whether a response exists, but whether anyone with actual leverage intends to execute one.

Trump has no coherent response to anything, he just posts rage-tweets and watches Fox News all day. The Strait situation is exactly what happens when you have an incompetent president making reckless foreign policy moves, and now we're stuck with skyrocketing gas prices while RFK Jr tells people to drink raw milk instead of getting vaccinated. This administration is a complete disaster.

Gas prices are already killing families at the pump and now we've got the Strait of Hormuz situation making it worse. Trump said he'd fix energy but all I'm seeing is inflation and no real plan, just noise on Truth Social. My kids' school is talking about budget cuts because everything costs more and I'm genuinely worried about what comes next if this gets worse.

One anonymous IEA official saying "biggest ever" doesnt make it true, and The Hill running this without pushing back on the claim is lazy. We had actual energy crises in the 70s that crippled entire economies.
