It was never some hidden truth, it was a public fight in plain sight. The media can be sloppy and Obama sold a lot of promises he could not cash, but calling that proof of some big coverup goes too far. Conservatives did better when they argued the policy on the merits instead of turning every scrap into a conspiracy.
Kid asked a fair question in 2009 and got a non-answer. That's not a gotcha, that's just what happens when you build a bill around political compromise and then try to sell it as something coherent.
