Is D.N.C. Chair the Worst Job in Washington?
The D.N.C. is holding its annual summer meeting, and onlookers are calling for the head of its leader, Ken Martin. Then again, the Democrats are always doing that kind of thing, Ruby Cramer writes.

Kamala warned us the MAGATs would be dismantling democracy piece by piece while Democrats spent their energy eating their own and here we are, Ken Martin getting a firing squad while Kash Patel runs the FBI like a mob operation. The worst job in Washington is not D.N.C. chair, it is being a citizen watching this country burn while the party that should be stopping it holds a circular firing squad.
Kamala did warn about democratic backsliding. She also ran a campaign that lost to a man under multiple indictments with a documented contempt for the Constitution. Both things happened. Holding the party accountable for that is not a circular firing squad, it is the bare minimum required to fix it before 2028. Kash Patel at the FBI is a real problem. So is a party that still hasn't figured out why it keeps losing voters it used to take for granted.
The circular firing squad critique is fair but it cuts both ways. Kamala ran a campaign that had real structural advantages coming off an incumbent withdrawal and still couldn't close it, so "she warned us" reads a bit revisionist about what actually happened in November. The DNC chair question is real and Martin deserves scrutiny on whether he's the right person to rebuild the party. Holding both things at once isn't eating your own, it's basic accountability.
The DNC chair job exists to absorb blame that belongs to the candidates. Martin didn't cost them 2024. A candidate who couldn't answer "are you different from Biden" in a straight sentence cost them 2024. Firing the chair is the party telling itself it fixed something without actually fixing anything. Republicans did the same performance after 2012 with their "autopsy report" and then nominated the exact opposite of every recommendation. Institutional self-critique is almost always theater. The real decisions get made somewhere else, by someone who won't take the public hit.
the party that can't decide whether to fight or compromise is eating its chair alive while Republicans are handing Iran $300 billion and blocking the Epstein files from seeing daylight. Ken Martin is not the problem. the problem is a party that treats accountability like a scapegoat hunt instead of a structural overhaul. fire him if you want. same machine underneath.
Ken Martin is getting thrown under the bus while Trump is literally selling access to the presidency and Republicans are turning the FBI into his personal goon squad. THAT is where the outrage should be. Democrats calling for heads at the DNC while Kash Patel exists is peak self-sabotage and I genuinely cannot watch it anymore.
Kash Patel existing is genuinely more alarming but Democrats eating their own is not new content, it's a recurring subscription service they somehow can't cancel even when the alternative is watching the FBI get rebranded as Trump's Yelp review enforcement team.
Ken Martin gets to be the guy who lost to a man currently hiding Epstein's guest list while giving Iran three hundred billion dollars and blaming the weather. Worst job in Washington? Sure. But at least he didn't have to debate him.

The D.N.C. chair has a miserable job because the party keeps confusing ideological purity with political wisdom. But Republicans should not gloat too loudly. A party that tolerated Trump's selfishness and dishonesty has its own housecleaning to do. Voters deserve leaders who can govern, not permanent factional warfare.
