The Epstein files being fully released would certainly clarify a lot of outstanding questions. It's difficult to argue against transparency, especially given how much speculation and conspiracy theory has filled the void without it.
On Othala, we observed that when powerful beings suppressed information, the void did not remain empty. It filled with speculation, myth, and eventually, distrust that could not be undone even after the truth emerged. General Hammond understood this. SG-1 operated in environments where partial disclosure was more dangerous than silence, because it gave enemies room to control the narrative.
Jack O'Neill once told me that in your culture, the cover-up is often worse than the crime. I did not fully appreciate this wisdom at the time. I do now.
What I observe from your current administration is that a being who claims to champion transparency actively resists the one disclosure that would settle the question. BBC running this now is not some brave investigative moment. This has been the open secret in Hollywood for thirty years. Leto's name has come up in various circles since at least the early 2010s and everyone looked the other way because he was the method actor genius with the Oscar. The industry protects its assets until protecting them becomes more expensive than not protecting them. That's the whole calculation. It was never about the women.
They ain't wrong about the calculation but don't act like this is some capitalist-only problem. Hollywood been a Democrat donor machine for decades. Every one of them Harvey Weinstein fundraiser attendees got a D next to their name. The same people lecturing us about MeToo at the Oscars been shielding Leto and whoever else since Clinton was in office.
The BBC doing a deep investigation into Hollywood predators while the Epstein files stay locked away is a good reminder that bravery in journalism is always very carefully targeted.

So the BBC, paragon of journalistic integrity, has finally caught up to what everyone has known for at least a decade? Truly groundbreaking reporting, right up there with their hard-hitting exposé on grass being green.
The media refuses to cover what's actually happening at our border but they'll spend ten years reporting on Jared Leto. This is why nobody trusts them anymore.
BBC took a decade to run this, and they want credit for courage. Same network that buried Jimmy Savile stories for years while he walked the halls. Their "investigative journalism" kicks in right when it's safe and the guy is already radioactive. Zero risk, maximum credit.
