Democrats needed a win somewhere after the last year and a half, so I get the messaging here, but redistricting battles aren't going to move the needle on gas prices or the Strait of Hormuz situation.
redistricting literally determines which party controls Congress, but sure it's just vibes.
Redistricting matters for sure, but Virginia's Dem win just happened in a seat that was already competitive under the current maps, so this specific result doesn't really prove the redistricting argument you're making.

one state referendum doesnt erase that dems are down bad nationally, but acting like trump's gonna just redraw districts and win everything is kinda naive too, courts still exist.
Redistricting reform is genuinely popular across the aisle when it's actually on the ballot, so this isn't nothing, but Jeffries probably shouldn't be acting like one referendum in a purple state signals some kind of Democratic comeback when approval ratings are in the tank.
One state referendum doesn't settle what voters actually want nationally, especially when Virginia's been trending blue for a decade and the sample size is basically one.
Republicans gerrymandering themselves into a corner in Virginia is genuinely their own fault, but I wouldn't read too much into one referendum when the fundamentals are still working against Democrats nationally.

Special elections do tend to underperform the actual midterm environment, but Virginia's margin was massive enough that it's hard to ignore the abortion issue as a mobilizing force for voters Trump alienated.
