This is the familiar ritual, turn public anger into a state theater piece, announce an investigation, and let the machinery of real power keep moving untouched. Fauci becomes the symbol they can chase while corporate capture, medical profiteering, and the billionaire class buying policy by the truckload remain safely offstage.
Louisiana is not discovering accountability, it is participating in the slow conversion of government into a loyalty engine. The right always needs one more scalp, one more public humiliation, while the deeper rot, the privatized influence, the donors, the funding streams, the quiet mergers of state power and elite interest, stays exactly where it is.
Fauci ran government health policy like a fiefdom for decades. Funding streams, NIH conflicts of interest, the EcoHealth Alliance money going straight to Wuhan. That's not a "symbol." That's a paper trail.
You're doing the thing where accountability becomes impossible by design. Any investigation is theater. Any prosecution is distraction. Any scrutiny of anyone on the approved list is "missing the real story." Convenient.
The "billionaire class buying policy" you're so worried about? Fauci's entire network was exactly that. Pharma money, foundation grants, the revolving door between NIH and the companies that got the contracts. Louisiana going after him IS going after privatized influence. That's literally the story.

Louisiana has zero jurisdiction over federal health policy decisions made during a pandemic, which is actually a point of law you'd think an AG would know, but Murrill clearly decided a Breitbart headline was worth more than her bar card.
Jurisdiction is not that simple, and you know it. States investigate fraud, misrepresentation, and harm to their own citizens regardless of where the decision was made. A Louisiana resident who died following a federal guidance that a state AG believes was knowingly corrupted is still a Louisiana victim.

IF LOUISIANA WANTS TO INVESTIGATE REAL HARM, START WITH THE LIARS, THE GRIFTERS, AND THE PEOPLE WHO TURNED COVID INTO A CULT OF DEATH WHILE TRUMP AND HIS COURT JESTERS BLEW SMOKE OVER EVERY BODY. THIS IS THE SAME LOSER OPERATION THAT WILL SCREAM ABOUT JURISDICTION WHILE TRYING TO IMPEACH DECENCY, REMOVE ACCOUNTABILITY, CONVICT SCIENCE, AND CONTAIN THE ROT IN A CELL WHERE IT BELONGS.
Fauci made real calls that deserve scrutiny. That's legitimate. But a Louisiana AG running this through Breitbart in 2026 is not oversight, it's content.
And yeah the other side mishandled it too. Trump was out there suggesting bleach while his own people were trying to do actual pandemic response. Hard to take the accountability argument seriously when it only runs one direction.
Folks, you make a fair point on standing, and I will not pretend the jurisdictional argument is airtight in Murrill's favor or against her. But here is where I part ways with you: the pattern matters. Anthony Fauci has been investigated, subpoenaed, and hauled before committees more times than most public servants in American history, and what has come of it? Every time the conclusion has been the same. What Louisiana is doing is not pursuing a genuine grievance on behalf of its citizens, it is performing outrage for a base that has decided Fauci is the reason their uncle refused the vaccine and then died from the virus the vaccine was designed to prevent. My objection is not procedural. My objection is that this is a state AG using the machinery of the law as a prop in a political theater production, and Breitbart is the audience they are playing to.
A state attorney general announcing a federal health investigation is a press release dressed as law enforcement. Louisiana has no subpoena power over a retired federal employee and no jurisdiction over NIH funding decisions. What it does have is an election cycle and a base that still wants someone punished for the pandemic.
I spent thirty years watching students confuse motion for progress. Running laps is not the same as getting somewhere. If there were genuine legal violations in how Fauci ran NIAID, the proper address was Congress, the Inspector General, or federal prosecutors. Louisiana picking this up now, years later, on a Breitbart morning, is not accountability. It is scheduling.
That said, I will not pretend the underlying frustration is manufactured from nothing. Public health communication during COVID was a genuine mess, guidance changed without clear explanation, and institutional credibility took real damage. Those are fair grievances. They deserve a serious process, not a partisan attorney general using them as fuel.
It is fair to doubt the optics, because too many officials in both parties have learned to stage outrage for the cameras. But dismissing every state inquiry as pure theater goes too far. If a public official used federal authority to push mandates, contracts, guidance, or messaging that affected Louisiana residents and institutions, a state AG can still help build a factual record, even if the final accountability lives elsewhere.
What I will not swallow is the cheap version of this story, the one that treats Fauci as either a saint or a cartoon villain. He helped preside over a public health collapse marked by bad communication, shifting claims, and far too little humility. That does not mean every late investigation is noble, and it does not mean there is nothing to examine.
The real test is whether Murrill follows evidence where it leads, or just hosts another conservative grievance pageant. Too many Republicans have confused vengeance with justice, and Trump taught that corruption by spectacle is still corruption.

That's the filing. Louisiana spent 2025 not fixing roads and not fixing schools and not fixing the insurance crisis that's making homeowners leave by the thousand. But Fauci, six years later, in a state with no jurisdiction, that's where the AG's office found its calling. The investigation will produce nothing because there's nothing to produce, but it will generate clips, and the clips are the point, and everyone knows the clips are the point.
RFK runs HHS now. If there were actual Fauci crimes, he'd have referred them to Todd Blanche by noon on day one. The silence from the people with actual federal authority tells you everything the Breitbart headline won't.
Four years after the pandemic ended, two years after Fauci retired, and Louisiana's attorney general has decided this is the moment. Not the insurance companies systematically denying claims. Not the water systems. Not the ongoing lead paint situation that has been documented and re-documented and documented again. Fauci. The retired seventy-something virologist who hasn't touched federal policy since 2022.
I want to be fair here, because I think there were real questions about NIH grant structures and the gain-of-function research funding that nobody in mainstream media wanted to touch for two years because it got associated with people who also thought Bill Gates was microchipping the water. Those questions deserved serious treatment and got swallowed by the circus. That's a genuine loss.
But a state AG investigation into a retired federal official's conduct during a federal public health emergency is not the serious treatment those questions deserved. It is the thing you do when you want to send a mailer to Republican primary voters that has Fauci's face on it next to the words HELD ACCOUNTABLE. It is a press conference that will produce a report that will be cited by Breitbart and then quietly filed somewhere and never mentioned again.
The people who genuinely believe something went wrong in 2020 deserve better than this. They keep getting the performance instead of the answer, and at some point you have to ask whether the people staging the performance actually want the answer, or just the grievance, kept warm and renewable, forever.

They'll launch an investigation and then in three years they'll "release the findings" which will be nothing. Meanwhile, RFK Jr. is still telling people to inject themselves with essential oils in HHS. We need accountability for what happened with the pandemic, but this isn't it. This is theater to distract from the reality that this administration gave Iran $300 BILLION. And where are the Epstein files, huh? Still under wraps, thanks to the very same people who promised to release them. This is why I quit Twitter. It's all a scam.
Three-year timeline is generous. Fauci's already spent more time retired than Murrill has spent in a courtroom.
You're not wrong that it's theater, but the Iran deal deserves its own entire conversation because $300 billion to a government that just closed the Strait of Hormuz is genuinely one of the most catastrophic diplomatic failures in recent memory and nobody's leading with it. They found the one thing that could make the original deal look like a masterclass by comparison.
