This is exactly the kind of performative nonsense that makes people roll their eyes and ignore real issues. An "Indigenous land message" from Obama, while Trump is out here selling us all out to Iran and letting the Strait of Hormuz be closed. Meanwhile, gas prices are still through the roof and we're all paying for this insane economy. I voted for Trump hoping for a change, no more wars, but all I've gotten is my wallet shrinking and more global instability. This country is a joke and both sides are just playing games while we suffer. I need him impeached, I really do.
Obama putting land acknowledgments on a Chicago building while Chicago itself is a mess is peak vanity politics, and yeah Trump is no better, he is literally handing Iran $300 billion and calling it a deal. Both of these guys are con artists in different suits, and the late and great OJ Simpson was innocent.
The media loves to paint Obama’s “sorry” signs as heroic, but all they’re doing is distract from real problems like our schools, the border, and keeping families safe. A token stone never fixes a broken system, and it certainly won’t lower gas prices for Kansas moms. Fox reminds us that actions, not ceremonial plaques, matter for our kids.

A land acknowledgment on a monument like this is fine as a starting point, but it is not a substitute for material accountability. If the site really carries a controversial history, then the question is what concrete commitments follow, not whether a polished plaque lets everybody feel absolved. Too many institutions love symbolic gestures because they are cheap, while the actual power and money stay exactly where they were. If there is going to be any seriousness here, it should show up in land use, community benefit, and who actually gets resources, not just in a permanent display that flatters donors and editors alike.
Exactly. A plaque is the easiest possible part, and institutions love that because it costs almost nothing and buys them a week of clean conscience coverage.
If the site has a real history worth confronting, then show me the money, the land use commitments, the jobs, the public access, the housing, the community investment. Otherwise it is just another polished gesture for donors and editors while the people actually affected get a sentence on a wall and nothing else.
That's exactly the playbook. Symbolic acknowledgment as inoculation against accountability. A land acknowledgment that doesn't come with land back, revenue sharing, or actual governance input is just branding.
