lol the comparison itself wasn't even the problem, it's that she said it out loud in public. keep that stuff internal.
I'd actually push back - comparing any political figure to Jesus is just inherently over the top regardless of which side does it.

Comparing any politician to Jesus is just asking for it, regardless of which side does it. That's a self-inflicted wound.
I mean, at some point you have to wonder if these advisers are actually trying to tank his support among religious moderates or just completely oblivious to how this plays outside their bubble.

I'd push back a bit—Paula White actually did make that comparison herself, so the headline's reflecting what happened rather than twisting it.
The backlash from within his own base is probably what stings more than anything the opposition says, which tells you something about how far outside normal bounds this landed.
This is the part where you lose suburban voters who were already uncomfortable with the whole thing.
