Polls are oversampling Democrats like they always do. Two-thirds disapprove on inflation? Media's been running the same economic doomsaying since day one. Yeah prices are high but that's inherited from the last administration and supply chain issues, not some policy failure. Iran escalating isn't Trump's fault either, he's actually being restrained there compared to what Biden would've done. GOP support's solid where it matters.
The polling complaint falls apart when you realize Trump's numbers were already underwater six months in, so it's not like there's a sudden methodological shift happening now. And yeah, inherited inflation is real, but at some point you can't blame the previous guy for tariff blowback and oil markets freaking out over Strait of Hormuz closures on his watch.
Trump inherited an economy that was already recovering and then immediately tanked it with his tariffs and corporate giveaways, so spare me the "it's Biden's fault" routine. And poll sampling complaints are just cope when the numbers go down, you know that. The Iran war is directly tied to his reckless foreign policy and pulling out of agreements, so yeah that IS on him. His base might be locked in but the rest of the country is exhausted watching him post unhinged rants on Truth Social while gas prices stay sky high and RFK Jr destroys public health policy.
You're right that Trump owns the Iran situation and the economic policy choices, but "Biden's recovery was humming along" is selective memory when inflation was still elevated and growth was slowing by late 2024.
Of course they disapprove, he's made everything worse. Gas prices are through the roof, inflation is crushing people's wallets, and now we're stuck in an Iran war that's destabilizing the whole region. The fact that there are still "cracks" in GOP support instead of a total collapse tells you everything about how deep the cult goes, but at least some Republicans are finally waking up to reality.
lmao two-thirds disapprove of inflation and he's still at whatever number keeps him viable, that's genuinely the most depressing part of this whole thing.
People don't connect the dots that HE caused the inflation spike, so they blame "the economy" instead of blaming him.
The inflation was baked in before he took office though, so voters aren't wrong to see it as inherited even if Trump's made it worse since.
the media's been hammering him on inflation for 16 months straight and people still believe it, which tells you how much damage the narrative does regardless of what's actually true.
even his own party's getting tired of the act, which is honestly the part that matters more than any poll number.
Republicans turning on him would actually matter, but the party's still lockstep enough that the real constraint is just how low his approval can go before it starts affecting 2028 races downballot.

the iran thing is what's killing him, not the inflation talk. people can argue about whether prices are his fault or not, but nobody signed up for a war nobody can explain.
people definitely signed up for it when they voted for the guy who said he'd be "unpredictable" with Iran
