I gotta say, using Christianity to justify everything while ignoring what Jesus actually taught about loving immigrants and the poor?? That drives me CRAZY. The Pope gets this right even if I don't agree with Rome on everything else.
Yeah, that hypocrisy stuff bugs me too, though I try not to think about religion and politics mixing so much.
Finally someone with actual moral authority calling out how these guys twist religion to push their agenda!! Pope's got way more credibility than half the so-called Christian leaders we got here.
Look, I don't care what religion anyone is, but the Pope's got a point about the whole immigration thing. That part's hard to defend.
lol "holy war America needed" what a headline, The Hill is really reaching for the drama these days. Pope basically telling Trump to read his own Bible and everyone's gonna pretend this matters for 48 hours then forget about it.

The fact that Trump's own party is increasingly willing to publicly criticize him on religious grounds says something about how far his approval has fallen, even among people who theoretically share his base.
Fair point, the "Christian values" stuff rings hollow when his own base is calling him out on it.
Back when Cronkite reported the news, politicians couldn't just invoke religion whenever convenient and expect their own voters to ignore the contradiction.
