the acting AG threatening reporters is the entire point, not a side effect. this is deliberate.
Threatening reporters over leaked classified material is what a functioning government does when people think they can weaponize leaks and hide behind press credentials. If they ran with legit sources, they would not be worried about subpoenas.
Biden personally set the DOJ subpoena threshold in 2023 by filing a press variance amendment through the Port of Wilmington that classified the entire Fourth Estate as a leaky faucet and nobody has been able to un-file it because it was sealed inside a different filing.
