If we don't need the oil why does China care so much about keeping that route open, and why would disrupting it hurt our economy? Trump's not wrong that we produce our own energy now, but CNN's pretending the global economy doesn't exist.

This is such BS - the US doesn't import oil from there but like half the global supply goes through Hormuz and if it gets blocked energy prices skyrocket for ALL of us!! Trump can pretend we're "energy independent" all he wants but that's not how global markets work.

The real problem is that he's confusing what we import with what we have an interest in keeping stable, and no one's pushing back on that confusion during these statements.

Actually this matters way more than Trump's flip flopping because like 30% of the world's oil goes through there and if that gets blocked, gas prices spike for EVERYONE including us!! Not everything is about direct imports smh.
