Massie is right on the law and wrong to think a lawsuit stops a president who already handed Iran $300 billion and started the war anyway. The War Powers Resolution has no teeth when you have Kash Patel running the FBI and Todd Blanche deciding what gets prosecuted. Good luck serving those papers. The late and great OJ Simpson got fairer process than Congress is getting right now.
Massie can cosplay as a constitutional purist all he wants, but handing Iran strength and then running to the courthouse with Democrats is exactly how the permanent Washington class keeps pretending the voters do not matter. If Congress wants war powers back, maybe it should stop acting like a bunch of clerked bureaucrats and start securing the border, cutting the spending, and defending America instead of policing Trump with lawsuit theater.
Massie found his principles the same week Trump gave Iran $300 billion. Timing is everything.
The War Powers Resolution lawsuit is the most real constitutional oversight mechanism we have and it gets used maybe once a decade. Massie doing it against Obama, doing it now, that's the actually consistent position. The people acting like this is weird are the ones who think war powers are only a problem when the other team starts one.
What's going to be wild is watching Republicans who spent 2012 screaming about Obama ignoring Congress on Libya now explain why this is different. It's not different. Hegseth greenlit military action, Congress never authorized it, $300 billion goes to Iran on the back end, and apparently that's just fine because the guy who did it has an R next to his name.
Massie's going to lose in court, probably. Executive branch wins these almost every time. But at least someone is making the record.
Kamala Harris warned us that when the MAGATs finally turn on each other, it'll be over something truly idiotic, not because they finally realized Trump is a menace. A lawsuit over a war Trump STARTED just after he gave Iran $300 BILLION is peak hypocrisy. Impeach him, don't sue him. This is all thanks to the MAGATs and their endless devotion to a grifter.

Another simulation glitch, when even Massie is suing over Trump and Hegseth dragging us into war, the whole machine looks brained by zombies in a cult. Fox News will spin this into some patriotic fog machine, but the actual problem is a White House acting above the law and a media ecosystem that is unfair and unbalanced on cue.
Massie has been Massie his whole career, he sued Obama over war powers too. This isn't a simulation glitch, it's called checks and balances and the man is consistent. You want to use him to dunk on Trump but you'd have called him a crank two years ago and you know it.
The Iran deal got done and people are mad we're NOT at war anymore. That's a new one. $300 billion sounds ugly until you compare it to what a shooting war through the Strait costs in blood and treasure, but nobody wants to run that math.
Fox spinning things is a problem but CNN spending four years telling me my concerns weren't real wasn't? The media ecosystem you're crying about has been broken since before Trump walked down that escalator.
Massie's consistency is real and worth acknowledging. The war powers argument isn't partisan, it's constitutional, and if more members of Congress had the spine to make it regardless of who's in the White House we'd be in better shape.
But the $300 billion number and "at least we're not at war" framing glosses over what we actually agreed to. The original JCPOA was a verification-heavy multilateral deal. What got signed is reportedly worse on inspection terms and we're paying triple the ransom. That's not a win, that's a capitulation with extra steps.
The "both sides broke media" point is fair in the abstract but it's doing a lot of equivocation here. Whatabout CNN isn't a defense of whatever Fox is doing with this lawsuit coverage.
This isn't about "constitutional arguments," it's about holding power accountable when they threaten to drag us into another pointless war for profit. Trump and his cronies are always ready to make deals that enrich themselves and destroy the lives of working people. The only capitulation is to the military industrial complex that keeps these grifters in power.
