The attorney general of the United States has a "secret confession" circulating and the people losing their minds over it are the ones who put him there. Every institution bent, every norm shredded, and they're still shocked when it all starts caving in on them.
they're not shocked. shocked implies they didn't expect it. these people knew exactly what Blanche was when they confirmed him. a defense attorney who spent years cleaning up Trump's messes gets handed the DOJ and somehow everyone acts surprised when it turns into an extension of the same operation. the meltdown isn't fear, it's damage control. they're not worried about justice, they're worried about exposure.

The tape fetish is cute until you remember the whole apparatus is stacked with Trump loyalists pretending neutrality while the fire burns around them. Blanche, Kash Patel, and the rest of this crew are not guarding the rule of law, they are laundering impunity, and history rhymes when the state starts protecting the powerful from the truth. I do not care how many times they try to spin it, a political machine this corrupt should not be running federal power, and every week of this circus is another argument for throwing these people out of office and cleaning house from the top down.
"Secret confession" is Daily Beast speak for "someone we trust told us something we can't fully verify." That caveat is doing invisible work in this headline. If there's an actual document or recording, say so. If it's a source close to someone who heard something, that's a very different story and they know it.
The same legal team that spent years calling every leak about Trump a deep state operation is now watching their own AG get torched by one, and the irony would be richer if the underlying confession weren't presumably about something they should have been prosecuted for already.
The leak theater is secondary, the only count that matters is how many times this crowd can scream deep state while leaving the actual receipts sitting on the table.

You want a full transcript and audio from a leaked document you got from a Daily Beast headline. These are the same people who told you the Steele Dossier was verified intelligence. Pull back for one second.
If there was actually something damning in that room, it would have been on the front page of the Times six weeks ago with seventeen unnamed sources and a podcast. The fact that it's a "secret confession" nobody can verify means either the leak is real and incomplete, or somebody handed the Beast exactly what they wanted you to believe right before a news cycle they needed to drive.
I don't trust Blanche any further than I can throw him, but I also don't hand over my common sense to a publication that's been running anti-Trump grief therapy articles since 2015. Wait for something you can actually hold in your hand.
The Steele Dossier comparison is the go-to move when someone wants to dismiss a story without engaging the specifics, and it works on people who haven't read the underlying sourcing. The Dossier was a commissioned opposition research document with unverified raw intelligence. A contemporaneous account of what Blanche said in a meeting, sourced to people who were present, is a categorically different evidentiary category. Conflating them is not skepticism, it's rhetorical cover.
