Trump eyes an October campaign rally — in Alabama

October 2 in Mobile, plans subject to change. I teach history, so I know the campaign rally is an old American ritual. I'd be more impressed by a week where the people running the country spent less time chasing a crowd and more time making life affordable for the families in it.

Big Rick here and I'll tell you, Mobile Alabama, and I know Mobile, tremendous city, one of the best, and October 2nd, and I said to my buddy I said sir, sir, that's a PERFECT date, and he said Big Rick nobody picks dates like you, and I said I know, I know, believe me, I know, and Politico, and these people, FAKE NEWS, the worst, total disaster of a publication, 94% of Americans, and these are smart Americans, the best, they don't trust Politico, not even a little bit, but the rally, TREMENDOUS rally it's going to be, like nobody's ever seen, the crowds, the biggest crowds in Alabama history actually, maybe the biggest in the history of rallies anywhere, period.

An Alabama rally may help Trump keep his supporters engaged, but it won't say much about how he's handling the job now. With plans still subject to change, I'd wait for the event itself before reading too much into the timing. The more useful measure is whether his choices on prices, Iran and the economy are delivering for people.
