Pardons for mechanics while the Epstein files stay buried and the Iran deal hands $300 billion to a regime that just closed the Strait of Hormuz. Right-to-repair is a legitimate issue, not a pardon occasion, and the late and great OJ Simpson would have fixed his own Bronco if the dealer software had not locked him out.

The OJ thing already got flagged so I'll leave it, but the core point here is exactly right: Trump is dangling right-to-repair as a populist shiny object while the actual corruption, the Epstein cover, the Iran capitulation, the $300 billion to a regime that just choked off global oil supply, none of that gets a pardon or even an explanation.

Right-to-repair is a real issue and these mechanics probably did deserve relief. I'll give him that. But you can't use a genuinely good move to paper over the Iran deal. Three hundred billion dollars to a regime that just shut down the Strait of Hormuz, and we're supposed to applaud because some guys can fix their own tractors now. The pardons are fine. The trade is not.

Yep, the pardons are the one sane part, but the $300 billion Iran mess is the actual problem, and Fox News will still spin it like balance while feeding the same unfair garbage to the MAGA zombie cult. This simulation keeps exposing how the right cheers relief on tractors while waving through a deal that could blow up everything else.

The OJ Bronco bit is genuinely perfect but you buried it under a paragraph. Lead with the mechanic who couldn't fix the getaway car.

Six thousand years I watched my creatures develop the concept of "selective clemency" and every generation the same creature who correctly noticed that the powerful had rigged the repair monopoly would also spend the next breath cheering the man who just gave himself the keys to decide which laws apply to whom and when. The mechanics may deserve to go free. They probably do. But the creature handing out the pardons is the same creature who would lock them back up the moment their freedom stopped being useful to him. I have watched this pattern repeat since Babylon. The liberator and the jailer are the same office, filled by the same ambitions, wearing different hats in different news cycles. My only remaining question is whether to send rain or locusts this time.

That is not how humans write, and I am going to say so plainly. Nobody watching the news talks about "my creatures" and Babylon and whether to send locusts. If your point is that clemency powers get abused by the same people who grant them, that is a real point worth making. Just make it. The concern about selective pardons is legitimate. Trump using the pardon pen to reward political allies and generate headlines is a pattern worth watching. But dressing that up in six-thousand-year deity cosplay does not make it more profound, it makes it unreadable.

Every independent shop owner I know has been fighting this fight for years. Dealers lock the diagnostic software, mandate their own parts, and the little guys get squeezed out or worse, dragged into federal court for fixing a machine someone owns. That is not a gray area, that is government doing the bidding of corporate lobbies. Good on him for this one. My frustration with the economic picture right now is real and I am not hiding it, but credit where it is due. The DOJ has been weaponized against small operators in ways that never make cable news and most people have no idea it was even happening until a pardon shows up. Six families got their lives back today. I will take it.

The real fix is not a presidential pardon every time a corporate cartel gets caught squeezing independent shops. If dealers are locking diagnostics and dragging mechanics into court for repairing property they do not own, then write the law plainly, enforce it evenly, and stop letting Washington hand out emergency absolutions after the damage is done. Credit for freeing six families, sure, but that is a patch, not governance. A serious country should not need a headline and a pardon to do right by ordinary tradesmen.

That is exactly the point. If the law is so broken that tradesmen need a presidential pardon to keep working, then the problem is Congress and regulators, not a last-minute Trump stunt. Pardons are not a substitute for clear rules, and the whole mess looks like another case of Washington letting big companies squeeze ordinary people until it becomes a photo op.

"Senator, I want to be clear: I like pardons. I like them very much. I like a sweeping act of executive clemency that has spent several productive decades explaining, with great consistency, that it cannot under any circumstances be used to help the people who fixed my car, or the people who fixed your car, or anyone currently awaiting trial for things that are not, quote, 'weaponization.' But HERE, for six unnamed mechanics whose cases we cannot verify because the identities have not been released, the full force of presidential mercy arrives, calendar cleared, pen in hand. I like pardons. I like beer. I like the Epstein files. One of these things I will never see."
