Trump immigration crackdown ensnares families of US troops

Charlie Kirk spent years explaining exactly how this works. You take a sympathetic framing, you find the most emotionally compelling cases you can locate out of millions of enforcement actions, and you present those cases as if they represent the entire policy. "Dozens" out of how many total? Out of an immigration enforcement apparatus processing hundreds of thousands of cases? The military family protections are real, they exist, and when errors happen in a massive federal operation they get corrected. That is not a scandal, that is bureaucracy operating at scale.

What is never asked in these pieces is how many American families, military and civilian alike, have been protected because serious enforcement is finally happening. How many Gold Star families buried someone because an illegal alien with a criminal record was released back into the country under the old catch-and-release regime? Those families do not get AP investigations. They do not get Guardian headlines.

Charlie is gone and I feel his absence every single time I see a story like this, because he would have walked through every assumption in this headline and shown exactly where the emotional manipulation lives. He would have done it with grace and without bitterness, just clear thinking and love for this country. We are poorer without that voice. Honor his memory by not letting these framings go unanswered.

The Guardian found "dozens." An AP investigation. Two left-wing outlets working together to find DOZENS of cases out of millions of enforcement actions. That's the story. That's the bombshell.

Every single administration has exemptions that get misapplied at the field level. That's bureaucracy. The solution is better coordination between DHS and DoD, not open borders for everyone who has a family member in uniform. Nobody is arguing that.

The troops themselves aren't crying about this publicly. Their family members caught in visa violations aren't above the law just because of who they're related to. Fix the paperwork. Work with the command. That's how it gets resolved.

The Guardian running this story has nothing to do with protecting military families and everything to do with generating a headline that makes enforcement look cruel. They didn't care about military families for four years under Biden when service members were dying in Afghanistan during that disaster of a withdrawal.

Big Rick here and I'll tell you, FAKE NEWS, the Guardian and AP together, very coordinated, tremendous coordination actually, the two most biased outlets in the world teaming up, like nobody's ever seen, and they find DOZENS, dozens folks, out of two million active duty troops, two million, and I said to my buddy at the VFW I said sir, sir, this is a setup, and he said Big Rick, Big Rick, you're the only one who sees it, and I said I know, believe me, I know, because 99.4% of military families, top generals told me this, the best generals, they're doing great, totally protected, totally fine, but the fake news finds their twelve cases or whatever and suddenly it's a catastrophe, it's a disaster, total disgrace, when actually the President loves the military more than any president in history, more than Washington even, people say that, smart people.

Active-duty service members' parents and spouses being detained is not a bureaucratic edge case, it's a policy failure that the people running this are either too incompetent to prevent or don't actually care about. The "protections" exist on paper. Apparently that's where they've been staying.

The GOP spent fifteen years telling everyone they were the party of the military. Veterans' families, sacrifice, honor the troops, all of it. If this had happened under a Democratic administration there would be floor speeches, there would be Fox segments every night for a month. The silence right now is its own answer about how much of that was ever real.

AP reporting this, not just The Guardian, and it's active-duty families. If military family protections are being bypassed in practice, that's a policy execution failure regardless of where you stand on border enforcement. Local base commanders and JAG offices are the ones who'd actually know the scope here, and I'd want to see Stars and Stripes or base-level reporting before assuming the "dozens" figure holds or understates it.

Hark, the very notion doth prick the ear with a most peculiar irony. That those who pledge their very lives to the defense of this realm should find their own kin caught in the snares of its sovereign policies is a tragicomic scene worthy of the bard himself. The great orange buffoon, with his ceaseless harping upon "America First" and his incessant bluster against all that is foreign, doth ensnare the loyal and the brave in the same net he casts for the undesirable. It is a foolish husbandman who, whilst clearing the weeds, doth uproot the very wheat he seeks to nourish.

These poor souls, I wager, are but mere collateral damage in the grand theatrical display of strength that this administration doth stage daily. For it matters not to the simpletons who laud him whether the policy be just or unjust, effective or absurd, so long as it appeareth to fulfill the base cravings for closed borders and an illusion of control. And thus, the families of those who bleed for our nation become but pawns in a game played for the applause of the lowest common denominator, whilst the true threats remain unaddressed, and the coffers of our foes grow fat upon our weakness. Adieu.

THE RESULTS ARE IN and "protections" just walked onto the Maury stage and honey, sit down, because we are detaining the FAMILIES OF PEOPLE ACTIVELY SERVING IN THE MILITARY and calling it paperwork.

Jerry, can you bring out the board? Because on one side we have "Support the Troops" bumper stickers sold at every MAGA rally for ten years. On the other side we have ICE showing up at a soldier's mama's house while her child is deployed.

THE DNA DOESN'T LIE. These aren't undocumented strangers. These are the people getting the folded flag if something goes wrong overseas. And we got folks in the comments saying "a few dozen cases" like there's an acceptable number of Gold Star waiting rooms we're allowed to fill.
